PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE, RUDE and uninviting?

I think it is and can't believe things like that are made and people actually buy them. Horrible.

How is it passive aggressive? Seems pretty direct to me.

That's not the first response I'd have. I doubt I'd notice the mat, except perhaps Pis's!

MY doormat says......"Welcome......just don't expect much!"

I think you are nuts, OP Grin

Its a door mat. You don't have to buy one.
You also don't have to enter anyone's home if they have one but be prepared for this face Hmm when you tell them you are not entering their home because their door mat is being passive aggressive towards you Grin

Eh?! You are waaaay overthinking this op

I think it would be great except that cats can't read so the main source of mud in our house would ignore it. I would suggest that you immediately remove the people who have this mat from your christmas card list, their phone numbers from your phone and unfriend them from facebook, because they are clearly just not the right sort. Or you could just wipe your feet and get on with your life.

Report
BigRedBall · 31/03/2014 13:02

It's rude! It's ordering you to do something before you're worthy of entering.

Perhaps they know that's how you feel OP, and have put it there especially for you Grin

OP how many of these offensive door mats have you come across in your life?
Have they stopped you entering a property?
Are the people who own said offensive door mats passive aggressive and rude people?

StarGazey I always take of my shoes if they're wet from rain, but never if its a dry day. Maybe I'm supposed to take them off everytime I go around.

Yes I'm feeling fine. I just don't like being told to wipe my feet like a small child by a doormat before entering a house.

It's important that visitors wipe their feet. What if they had horse poo on their shoes?? Could so easily happen, right op? Grin

I wouldn't care, it's their house and if they want me to wipe my feet or take my shoes off then it would be rude for me not to, not rude of them for asking. The mat sounds tongue in cheek or directed at someone who lives there, anyway.

BigRedBall · 31/03/2014 13:09

FunnyFoot yes they are, which is why they've bought a rude doormat.

Nope, I want one ! and infact think it's rude people don't wipe their feet! I grew up in a country where everyone took their shoes off before entering. I wish this was common manners here as it drives me mad people tredding all over my carpets/mopped floors with muddy shoes! Hmm

Report
Funnyfoot · 31/03/2014 13:10

So why bother associating with rude passive aggressive people then OP?

As an adult you can choose whose home you visit and the company you keep. I think it is very unfair to blame the door mat.

Does it say :-

"wipe your feet"

OR :-

"Please wipe your feet"

There's a massive difference...

Beeyump, that would never happen because apparently people adore horse poo. It's edible dontcha know? Why step in it and ruin its endless uses?

OP, you really need to keep things in perspective!

Generally good manners to wipe ones feet! You may be very good and always wipe yours, but not everyone does, so they have it for the benefit of the rude eejits who can't be bothered!
