to start a thread for people who actually had a FANTASTIC Mother's Day?

My malingering two year old twins walked for the first time. They'd obviously been deliberately hanging back in order to give me the best present ever. I actually still keep bursting into tears about it .

DP was meant to have been away all weekend so had cooked and given me presents on Thursday, but then ended up being home after all, so we managed to catch up on the Sky box which is a minor achievement. I went to the Mother's Day tea party at nursery, which was lovely. And I got about 10m pieces of 'art' from the twins and chocolate. Lots of chocolate.

I had a grown up phone call with my own DM, who liked her gifts.

There was no family meltdown anywhere and I felt appreciated and loved.

Was I alone?!

ah no. my oldest ds made me a lovely sushi and noodles dish, ds 2 phoned me hugs.

dds 3 and 4 have me hugs, choc and a card and I day in my ares all day reading a new book.

No -I had a lovely day to. Cuddles with ds when I woke up, breakfast in bed made my dd2 and when dd1 got back from D of E expedition they presented me with a photo book they'd planned & ordered, brought back a lot of memories!

Nope, I had a lovely day too.
My 8.5 month old crawled for the first time (and hasn't stopped since)
I had a quiet relaxing bath - alone - and flowers and chocs and lunch out.
Better than my birthday in fact!

Had a fab one too. Got up at 6am, DS decided to come out with me to take dogs out for a run, we had mother and son bonding time, had breakfast when we got back and then got stuck into my assignment. TBH, I was glad that my day was normal albeit with a label. I got lots of chocs and pigged out and even the dogs gave me a MD staffy kisses

DS (4) gave me a card he had written by himself, then told me we were having pancakes for breakfast - but I would have to make them as he is too little.

Lovely morning of Lego and drawing then a meal with the extended family followed by wine in the garden while the children played.

I got a beautiful personal present from DH that must have taken him hours and a lovely day out- a wonderful first mothers day followed by a night of three feeds and three nappies from the ten week old!

We had a lovely day too. I did a huge roast dinner for everyone, my dad and brother came over.

We sat in the garden in the sun and had a few gins and watched DD and DS (2 & 4) play on their climbing frame.

Nothing spectacular, but full of family :)

I got flowers from DH and a handmade card from DS1 at nursery which DH got DS2 to scribble in as well. I would have been happy with just the card though. The flowers were just because, really.

I ate sausage rolls and cheese straws at MILs and didn't cook. Can't think of anything else I'd rather have. In fact, as the boys grow up and take it upon themselves to do stuff for mothers day I will be happy with a cup of tea and an extra ten minutes in bed before we carry on with an otherwise normal sunday.

I had a lovely day. Tea and toast for breakfast. A bouquest of paper flowers the girls had made and a wooden bead bag charm that DD2 had made. Chocs from DD1. Lots of hugs. DP and DD2 made me poached goose egg on toast for lunch, and DD1 made a lovely gooseberry crumble. We watched Brave together. In the afternoon DD2 played out, DD1 did homework, I logged on to work and DP mowed the lawn/weeded. Main present: no squabbling ALL DAY!

Dh went back to work having been of sick for months. Ds2 and dd made me breakfast in bed and were angelic all day.
Ds1 was away until the evening but had written a poem for me which choked me up, it is beautiful.
I missed my mum when we dropped her card but will see her today.
I had a lovely day.

Mine was great too - a lie in followed by a walk to the beach for a picnic and paddle, then DS started feeling a bit poorly so home with DS curled up on my lap and a billion cuddles and Disney movies and ice lollies and laughter.

A very joyful day - lovely cards, home made gifts, champagne and a voucher for lunch for two at a Michelin starred restaurant from my lovely girls. Also, had lunch and dinner cooked for me, so was very lucky, but the best gift of all was to be with them and to know how much they love and appreciate me (as they kept telling me) and to have lots of hugs from them and DH.

I'm now feeling quite tearful again!

I had a lovely day too even though I've a dh with a chest infection and toddler with an ear infection and me smothering. Ds doesn't do sitting and still and cuddles much anymore but I got lots and lots of them yesterday(pretending to myself it's not because he's sick but he knew it was Mother's Day) dh took him out for an hour in the afternoon so I could nap then came home and made me dinner, prosecco once ds was in bed and I'm getting the lie on this morning seeing as I missed it yesterday, lovely day!

It was my first mothers day as a mother. last year mothers day was a disaster as we were in the middle of IVF, and convinced it would never work i spent most of the day in tears :( this year I got a card and flowers from DH 3 month old DD and we went out for the day to a country park and took a picnic for an early lunch. DD was full of smiles :) we we went out for tea with DM and DMIL and had a lovely tea. DD crashed after a busy day, so I had a bubble bath :) I loved it in a soppy way and I'm not ashamed

Nothing special for me, just a day of very few squabbles, no cooking, homemade cards from my kids and no pressure to do anything or go anywhere because both my kids were a bit under the weather. So we went to a park, played at home while DH tinkered with the car, went out for an early dinner and got complimented on our "gorgeous" children after our meal (has never happened before!). All in all, a lovely lovely day. Am still smiling!

We went to a wedding on a Saturday night and my mum had the babies so we got an actual lie in. Went to collect them via the supermarket to get naice breakfast things, which DH then made for me. Adults massively outnumbering babies is always conducive to a more relaxing day, and I had a nap too. Amazing. A. Nap.

Aw. Cuddles and just BEING are the best, aren't they. But I am obviously a bad mother because I forgot my DS in my gratitude list. Skyped with him at Uni. Him unshaven and sheepish and mumbling 'so, about this Mother's Day thing...Happy Mother's Day. Thanks for all the driving me about and cooking and stuff.'

Best bit was his twin sisters kissing the computer screen. All my little punchkins.

I had a great day - DD 15 organised DS12 (!!) and I was given some tulips which are my favourite flowers, some perfume from Next which I love and a bracelet. Then me and DD went to London to the "Divergent" premiere Leicester Square. We stood at the barrier on the red carpet. Saw Kate Winslet and the other stars of the movie, they all signed DD's book, she got lots of photos, we had a Haagen Daz ice cream on the way back to the station, it was warm and sunny - what a lovely day!!

Handmade card and cuddles, some chocolates, a lie in, walk with my boys and my parents while DH cooked the Sunday lunch.

A Happy Mothers Day Grandma card from the kids some daffodils from the garage and luke warm coffee in bed.

Took our spaniel for a lovely walk on the beach, DH even held his lead so my fingers live to see another day.

Afternoon at a local farm park, fed some lambs, did myself a massive mischief when I got involved in a race on a children's ride on tractor but had a lovely, lovely day.

The evening at the outlaws wasn't quite so special, but I can live with that

DD surprised me by coming home from Uni, I had no idea :) We took the dog for a walk, wandered round a local market, and she made me lunch.

My mum came round in the afternoon and we watched a great movie then sat in the garden with a glass of wine whilst waiting for a chinese takeaway.
