I just don't get it! I don't understand the need to document it all on Facebook! Speak to each other, tell each other how you feel, but no need to advertise it to everyone you know! Is it just me or AIBU?

People will use Facebook how they want. Just because it's not something you would do doesn't make it wrong so yabu IMO

YANBU but really, that's all Facebook is about isn't it? It's just a place where people brag, if they didn't want to brag to the world then they'd just tell their nearest and dearest and that would be it. TBH, it's whatever you make it, bragging doesn't have to be a bad thing in the age of social media but if it bugs you then I'd just not go on there. I think a lot of the posts today were unnecessary and sickening but that's no different to most days in the world of Facebook. It's what you make of it, I know that some people feel really upset with their own lives after looking at Facebook but it's rarely a glimpse into the truth. I often find that the better the pictures, the worse the real life version of events is.

What would be the point of fb if people didn't share the nice things that had happened to them?

It would just be pictures of cats and discovering what superhero the bloke in accounts should be.

Ach so what?

They (me) have had a lovely day and if they (me) wants to post photographs on a social media account of family all together having fun they (me) will.

Don't be miserable.

Most people use Facebook to brag. It's the castle of stealth boasting, often without the stealth.

Oh, I'm really not miserable about it, I just genuinely don't understand it! But I don't get the whole, sharing everything that happens in your day on it either.

Ooh another FB thread

God if peoples FRIENDS annoy them so much why keep them in their lives?

(And if they are not your real friends why are they on your FB? Sigh)

The miserable comment was meant to be followed by Grin

I'm not overly posty of FB but I did post today.

However I don't want to see a picture of what anyone is eating. Ever.

So really nothing to do with mothers day, you just don't get FB at all! Nevermind, just step away from FB if it annoys you, as I don't really see what else people do except share what happens to them!

Meepmeep Grin
They don't annoy me either, I just like to enjoy what I'm doing and people I'm doing it with, without taking time out to photograph and document it all. Maybe I'll wish I did at some point when dementia sets in and I can't remember any of it! Grin

It's certainly more annoying for me to read threads/statuses moaning about what people post on Facebook. I don't mind reading about how people spent their Mother's Day. Maybe it's because I only keep people I genuinely like on Facebook.. Smile

I said happy mothers day to my mum on FB because a) she has guests today so she would't have time to take a call and b) I knew she'd check FB just before bed and would get to see my message.

Hope that's OK with you OP :-/

One of my friends put 19 posts relating to Mother's Day on FB today (I've just counted, didn't realise it was that many!). I guess that's where this thread came from!

I also posted about my day on Fb... But I didn't post a picture of my dinner- is that ok?! Grin

I don't know. I want an explanation Grin

Quite frankly it either looks rank or makes me hungry.

OP I take millions of picture, don't post all the photos I take but my camera and phone are jam packed. I get it from my Mum, she has literally thousands of pictures from my childhood. I love looking at them.

You do realise that you don't actually have to use Facebook at all don't you? Honestly, nothing bad will happen if you never look at it again.

YANBU!

At one point my children were arguing, the youngest was having the mother of all fucking tantrums and I was a nano second away from phoning work and asking if I could come back in (working a split shift but had four hours off over lunchtime). I actually put DS2 in the garden at one point as I was right royally sick of his screaming! And DH, lovely man, made a fab fry up for brunch but bought some non gluten free stuff that I couldn't have (hash browns and black pudding) and I was pissed off that I had to drool and watch him eat them.

I wanted to scream it all over FB, but realised it would probably piss on a lot of parades, so kept schtumm and just smiled beatifically at DH and said Thanks.

I did post a photo of my present though Blush but only because I was whinging to friends last week that I had asked for this particular thing for the last four gift giving occasions (I am always asked what I want before anyone gets frothy about me being ungrateful) and it finally arrived today.

And, whilst I love being spoiled by my children, my very own sweet mum died 6 years ago so the edge has been taken off Mother's Day as it is so very tinged with sadness and is bitter sweet all round.
