In the new flora buttery advert - describes a situation where two DSs walk in on parents 'wrestling'. AIBU to think this is slightly odd?

MairzyDoats Tue 25-Mar-14 21:34:55

Depends...what were they using the marge for?

JonSnowIsAProperLover Tue 25-Mar-14 21:35:53

Sex sells everything.

But the wrestling advert is certainly weird.

avocadoadvantage Tue 25-Mar-14 21:35:53

I hate that ad. It's just so...icky!

JonSnowIsAProperLover Tue 25-Mar-14 21:38:32

That's why the kids thought they were wrestling.

lessonsintightropes Tue 25-Mar-14 21:38:59

Mairzy for buttering toast for the parents' post-coital snack. (After all that wrestling they were hungry... a good job we made all the toast.) Yuk!

FutTheShuckUp Tue 25-Mar-14 21:39:48

It's not new where have you been?
It's pathetic and shit though.

nochips Tue 25-Mar-14 21:40:38

Stupid ad.

And very cringeworthy.

lessonsintightropes Tue 25-Mar-14 21:42:36

Fut I don't watch a lot of telly with adverts (mainly a boxsetter), just stumbled across it on telly and was a bit aghast.

fluffyraggies Tue 25-Mar-14 21:43:18

I watched that add. with a bit of a cross between a confused and a hmm face on.

Margarine ... sex ... kids ... parents ...

YANBU, I hate this advert. Bit too Last Tango In Paris for my taste maybe that's because I'm a filthy bitch

owlbegoing Tue 25-Mar-14 21:47:32

Either I have a weird sense of humour or you all have had a humour bypass. hmm

RedSpringer Tue 25-Mar-14 21:47:51

I can't stand that ad either confusedconfused

propertyNIGHTmareBEFOREXMAS Tue 25-Mar-14 21:49:30

We have bitched about that stupid advert MANY times already. Yanbu.

JCDenton Tue 25-Mar-14 22:07:24

It's really really odd, it's not at all offensive but it's not at all funny either. It just falls flat and is a bit off.

Sirzy Tue 25-Mar-14 22:09:25

I don't see an issue with it at all, can't say it's an ad I like but I don't tend to like ads in general

It's worked though as it's got people talking!

McPheezingMyButtOff Tue 25-Mar-14 22:09:52

They've certainly come at it from a weird angle.

Maybe that's why they needed the Marg.

UncleT Tue 25-Mar-14 22:11:30

YANBU. It leapt out at me the first time I heard it. I'm no prude, but I do think it's grossly inappropriate.

lessonsintightropes Tue 25-Mar-14 22:13:22

I'm not trying to say it's offensive, sorry if I wasn't clear, I just think it's really, really weird and can't think that something I would be personally a bit embarassed about (being walked in on by children whilst having sex) is such a great thing to use to sell... margerine. Or anything else for that matter!

Pictures of it oozing down a crumpet, with no voice over, maybe with some Bach in the background, would make it far more appealing...

UncleT Tue 25-Mar-14 22:16:35

Fair enough, but I still don't think it's remotely appropriate for daytime, family-themed adverts. And, like you say, just why?? Weird as hell.

Abbierhodes Tue 25-Mar-14 22:18:24

I thought it was funny, but yes, totally crazy that they'd use sex in a flora advert!
It was more 'WTF?!' funny than hilarious funny.

UterusUterusGhali Tue 25-Mar-14 22:20:45

It's really icky.

My 11yo dd told me about it before I saw it. She was horrified. I found it nasty too.

TossedSaladsAndScrambledEggs Tue 25-Mar-14 22:23:00

Hate this advert. So juvenile, not funny.

Mydelilah Tue 25-Mar-14 22:23:48

I've seen that ad and it is ewww, and cringeworthy to watch. Each time I see it, I wonder how it got through the focus groups! <shudder>

livingatheendofthewall Tue 25-Mar-14 23:33:51

Oh my god, YADNBU - I HATE this advert, it gives me the rage!
