I have a few friends on Facebook who are very religious. One of them shared an inspirational quote about God always being there. The kind with the blue sky background etc.

Someone has posted below this in a very serious manner that God spelled backwards is dog. They are the key to a happy life. ShockGrin

I saw that! I think it's just a jokey thing. Grin
I keep seeing the badly photoshopped bill gates saying hell give you money if you share the photo! ConfusedGrin

Nobody knows god's true form, perhaps god was a dog.

why does it bother you?

Not seeing what the problem is here.

"God spelled backwards is dog. They are the key to a happy life."

Can't argue with that imo!

PassAFist · 25/03/2014 10:17

Well, God spelled backwards is Dog, so that's true.

I personally think a dog is a key to a happy life, so also believe that's true.

What's the problem?

Dogs are better because they give you unconditional love. God - according to some religious people - does not.

BitOutOfPractice · 25/03/2014 10:21

I wish that was the most speechless-rendering thing I'd seen on FB today!

Report
normalishdude · 25/03/2014 10:21

It's mocking someone's belief and I think it's out of order.

Report
SaucyJack · 25/03/2014 10:22

YANBU.

If God was a domestic pet, then clearly He'd be a cat.

Report
CoffeeTea103 · 25/03/2014 10:22

Yes it's disrespectful.

Report
Marrow · 25/03/2014 10:25

How it is disrespectful? One person has stated their belief, someone else has responded with their belief. There has been no name calling, derision or insults.

Report
normalishdude · 25/03/2014 10:28

Certainly not all dogs give unconditional love anyway. I think some dogs should be banned but I don't go raving about it on facebook to any dog loving mates

Report
myitchybeaver · 25/03/2014 10:38

Can you explain why you are lost for words?

Report
MorrisZapp · 25/03/2014 10:43

Oh crap is it disrespectful.

Report
Doodledumdums · 25/03/2014 10:43

Very sensible comment IMO! I am often tempted to write similar things when people shove their beliefs in my face. If you post things like that on FB and are friends with people with opposing/differing views to you, then you are opening youself up to comments like that.

Does the person who posted it seem worried?

I'm sorry, mate, but this just doesn't have what it takes for a good, shocking Facebook thread. Go back and make some random friend requests until you get decently shocking material.

Wink

Erm......really?!

If that's the worst you see, you're getting off very lightly ;)

Report
eurochick · 25/03/2014 10:47

I'm not seeing the problem, personally.

Report
Grennie · 25/03/2014 10:49

Some people are way over sensitive about their beliefs.

ViviPru · 25/03/2014 10:49

Yeh I don't get the word-loss either. Are words required?

Having had an FB feed of suspiciously large cocks in socks I don't think that would leave me lost for words at the moment...
(And as a Burnley fan the God to Dog thing is a totally different joke Grin)

eurochick Did you not get the memo? Anything other than "that's so inspiring/true/deep" or similar validation is mocking, now.

In ye olden days, faith used to mean something. Hours of prayer, good works, and such. Now being very religious means sharing viral pictures of sunbeams on facebook. And we are supposed to treat this with the same respect we would use to speak of the men and and women who died rather than renounce their faith.

The Churches even have teams of people employed to update their twitters!

Report
Ploppy16 · 25/03/2014 11:01

My Vicar friend updates his own Twitter and FB! He doesn't post sunbeams, although the general synod appears to be fair game at the moment..
