AIBU?

AIBU in wanting a little sympathy?

I was told today that I have cataracts in both eyes and that both need operating on (I had wondered why my eyesight had deteriorated!) I'm 50, so wasn't expecting this. I am currently just legal for driving. I know that this is a relatively straightforward matter, capable of being fixed by surgery which is relatively uncomplicated (although the surgery is generally carried out under a local anaesthetic and that is way beyond my comfort zone). But AIBU in wanting a little sympathy? DH response was "oh, I wonder if that's what I have?" and DD said "isn't that what dogs get?" Am I being all me, me, me? I know other people have more serious problems. Sad

All I can do is say that people I've spoken to about cataract surgery is that it gives you back an eyesight you've forgotten you had. They have all been so pleased about the improvement.

YANBU just because others have more serious problems doesn't mean your worries affect you any less! Sorry that you've had a nasty surprise with this news but as a PP said the results are worth the short op Smile

I know how you feel about it being out of your comfort zone, I am exactly the same (I have to have an op under local too) can you try and forget about it until it happens and then just focus on getting through it on the day? That is what I'm trying to do, but don't know if that helps at all, sorry. Here are some Flowers and Cake for you, I find cake usually helps Wink
