AIBU?

AIBU to find this unfunny and have said so? *trigger warning*

One of my male Facebook friends (a colleague aged 40) has put a joke up on the news feed which basically says 'New Sex Positon - Raging Bull' ie: to start having sex with a woman, then whisper another woman's name in her ear and try to keep having sex while she's trying to stop.

He likes to shock but IMO it's a type of rape joke, not at all funny.
So i put the comment ''Not funny''. I could have put a lot more but don't want the entire hospital picking on me (he's very popular).

The problem is that dozens of his friends have 'liked' the joke and made comments like ''quality joke''. Do I just delete my comment before I get hassle for saying it's not funny and block him from my news feed or shall I leave my comment?
I feel that someone needs to pull him up on it but I'm not sure I want it to be me.

It's a very old joke

The original was called 'The Rodeo' where you whisper her Sister's name in her ear and see how long you can stay on.

It's up to you whether you leave your comment up or not.

Over half the people who 'liked' it were women but I think it's cos they like him, not the joke. Hopefully.

I think you need to choose new friends.

Rape is never suitable for the subject of a 'joke'.

He's a colleague and an acquaintance rather than a friend.

Now I'm a fan of sick and twisted jokes but that's just not funny. Bit on the rapey side. Hmm

They are sad sheep who haven't actually thought about what it means.

Good for you for saying something.

Well, I think that's sorted out some of your friends into fools and non-fools.

Jesus Christ OP, that is utterly foul. You were tight to respond as you did. How depressing that do many people found it funny. Sick.

I think you should have a trigger warning in your title.

His poor dp. He sounds like a complete tosser. Yanbu

Good for you - he is an idiot. To be honest in some orgs that could get him the sack - some have very strict policies on what you put in social media.

Latara · 23/03/2014 21:45

He doesn't have a DP.

What is a trigger warning and how do I get one put in the title?

A bit on the rapey side?? It is rape! How is that funny?

Not remotely funny. He is a twat. I work in a profession where somewhat inappropriate humour is rife. Some of it funny in some circumstances, some of it very unfunny indeed in the wrong context. Social media is never appropriate for 'jokes' like that, especially when it seems that his profile is open to half his colleagues. It displays bad judgment as well as misogynistic humour and I bet HR would be deeply, deeply unimpressed. I'd be tempted to point that out to him.

Or I might just reply: Definition of a someone with a small penis: someone who likes to play mind games during sex.

Also to answer your question I don't think you should remove your comment, I would however consider removing him as a friend on facebook. That joke is vile and the more I think about it the worse it gets. Also agree it may be a trigger for some.

At best he's a thoughtless unfunny fool at worst a nasty vile man.

Report your own OP to MNHQ, or email them and ask for them to edit the title to warn that it might be triggering (ie have upsetting content)

'Not funny' was fine. V restrained!

Why do people 'like' this shit?
