I agree generally. It took over from 'Farming' or 'Farming Today', I forget which and now it is like a magazine programme akin to 'Country Living Magazine only and not about anything much at all. It certainly doesn't give country dwellers views on anything lest they be politically incorrect I suppose. Too sugared a pill for me nowadays. Telly generally is as superficial as hell though IMO.

I remember when it was a 'proper' farming proramme on a Sunday lunchtime. Everything stopped at 12 for the weekly weather forecast, no-one dare speak Grin

I do like it now but agree it's more like a Country Living magazine and I daren't tell my farmer Dad I watch it Wink

Its shite. Everything used to stop for the weather ow jt is just a magazine. Still if it educates the townies then that is good with me.

I prefer Farming Today and On Your Farm on the radio - much better pictures!

We took one look at the programme description and deleted it without watching. Can get the weather online, and I'm sick of shouting things at the tele. It does sometimes have informative bits on it, but they're few and far between. FWi is faster, easier, and not full of blather.

It was really uninspiring tonight unless you liked pink foot geese. We were avid watchers but not any more.Yes, I agree it is like Blue Peter these days.

God, I've not watched it for ages. I remember when everyone in the house had to shut up for that weekly weather report! It was like the gospel here.

figgypuddings · 23/03/2014 21:23

Why? Would it be helpful things like how to park 4x4 in town or how to dress properly for shopping. Wink

Oh I agree. It's boring shite.

I'm a 'townie' -well a city person - seen one field, seem 'em all IMHO.

And the lambing thing...who watches that? you could be watching Breaking Bad

Unused to love it when it was on on a Sunday morning and more about farming and the countryside, now it just outdoors and dumbed down. I haven't watched it for yonks.

What's the problem with it? I grew up and still live in the country but I find it nice gentle viewing sometimes a bit dull and perfect for a Sunday night. I loved it tonight because they were right near where I used to live rehoming seals and where we go rock pooling on holiday looking at tiny snails:)

I suppose if you're from a farming background or similar it's a bit 'countryside lite', must admit I didn't used to see if very often before it moved slot.

I'll agree with anyone who wants to slag off Julia Bradbury though, for no other reason than my DH fancies her.

I stopped watching it when they moved it from the morning. It geared me up for Sunday afternoons out in country pubs it's not evening viewing to me.

NorksAreMessy · 23/03/2014 21:47

The most annoying part is that they start off story 1 then jump to story 2 whilst trialling story 3 then back to story 1 again....
I have an attention span sufficient unto watching a story all the way through from start to finish - 10 minutes or so. After all, I live in the country, things move pretty slowly around here, I can take things in all at once.

Froth froth grumble grumble

Pipbin · 23/03/2014 21:52

The thing is that they put it on later on a Sunday because they found that lots of people were watching it. Didn't they realise that it was because there was nothing else on.

I agree, it's not the program for farmers that it once was. But their neither is the Archers, or Emmerdale. My farmer grandfather used to watch Emmerdale when it had farm in the title.
