My DParents, while sensible in many other ways read the Daily Mail. DM is currently learning to use an iPad and the internet. She would like me to show her how to access the website.

WIBU to do this?

obviously I'll have a stiff drink before. Possibly something MN approved like gin

she'd have to be incredibly dim not to be able to find the website herself, what with it coming up first on just about every search you enter.

Just don't tell her. I know she'll find it, but every day you keep her away from that toxic site is a day gained.

But show her where she can find things like the Zelo Street and Mailwatch sites now.

Nancy She's only been using the internet since Xmas so is a bit of a beginner. She didn't know they had a website until I mentioned it doh!

I showed her how to send emails yesterday. She's not dim but rather a lot little behind the curve with technology.

Why wouldn't you?

If she reads it anyway, what difference does it make to you?

"she'd have to be incredibly dim not to be able to find the website herself, "

On a side note it pisses me off that the "older generation" can be referred to as dim, when it comes to technology.

My Mum (86) adapted from living in a house with gas lighting, booking keeping by hand, to working on computer and fully adapting to modern life, as well as using bricks as feet warmers in an Air Raid shelter, learning to farm etc.

We will never have to develop and adapt as this generation over 70's have, it isn't surprising that they can't do everything.

You could show her how to install a newspaper app giving her access to all news sites if the request bothers you that much. At least she hasn't asked you for help accessing porn. Grin

YABU to do so because she will lose ^hours' of her life on the sidebar of shame, and ask you questions along the lines of 'who ARE all these people?' and 'why Courtney Stodden?' really, why?

ilovesooty DF was rather shocked by some of the results from a fairly innocent search with a keyword that triggered all the porn options. I've had a chat with them about internet security and what not to do with credit cards, opening unknown emails and how to carefully select search terms.
