AIBU?

To not want to find a mug of snot on the kitchen work surface?

Just that really.
Go downstairs ready to make my cup of coffee and find a mug of snot next to the sink.

I am snot-phobic at the best of times (would rather deal with poo/sick)
Apparently I am overreacting because It makes me feel sick and I am pretty annoyed by it.

  1. don't spit into the mug in the first place
  2. if you do, don't bring it downstairs and put it next to the sink
  3. don't then joke about giving me that mug to drink out of

    I don't think I'm unreasonable at all!

Not at all unreasonable. I'm also snot phobic (I gag and occasionally vomit every time I have to blow my nose so this fecking cold I've had for 2 weeks now is my idea of personal hell), so I probably would have vomited in the offenders face, then accuse them of overreacting if they dared complain.

It was a family member staying in my house!
I was incapacitated with revulsion (like you Ipswichwitch I retch and vomit at the sight of snot) so they didn't feel the full force of my wrath.
Apparently they didn't want to wake anyone (upstairs) up by washing the cups up Hmm but they weren't bothered about it enough to not go downstairs and put the cup NEXT to the sink

Chuck it in the bin, the vile creature, not the mug. Burn the mug!

Do you mean phlegm?

Or has someone sort of blown their nose into the cup?

Either way both disgusting & I would be asking them to leave.

I have a pretty strong stomach but that makes me feel fucking sick! Blurgh! They wouldn't be a guest again that's for sure!

ohfourfoxache · 22/03/2014 09:55

Holy fuck! Shock

Why would anyone do that? Why?

Especially in someone else's house.

What the fuck were they thinking?

Can you chuck this person out op?

Report
JeanSeberg · 22/03/2014 09:55

They gobbed in it you mean? Who the fuck does that and not use a tissue?

Even more revolting that he was planning to wash it up, infect all the other washing up and presumably put away with you being none the wiser.

Jesus Christ.

That is so disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate snot. I hate people who cough it up, snort it back, blow it out of their noses then look at it.... In front of other people! Do it in private. Jees. Don't leave it by the sink.
I would have vommed.

I'm not snot-phobic and just reading that made me want to throw up. What kind of person does that? They'd certainly never be invited back. Boak.

Worst bit about it was it was a special cup painted by my 3DC so I feel guilty throwing it away Hmm I won't be using it again any time soon!

It was that horrible phlegm stuff you get when you've got a chesty cough (not that this makes any difference!)

The person, who is unfortunately related to me quite closely, has been suitably reprimanded and I'd like to think a repeat occurrence is very unlikely. here's hoping I've prevented it happening to another poor soul
