Also watching.

Totally agree. Now is the time to take the piss out of the politicians. Lord knows they've taken the piss out of us for long enough.

hopelessadventure Thu 20-Mar-14 21:33:49

Oh god yes. I've been wanting it back for ages.

How about taking the piss out of the awful culture of orange 'celebrities' we have these days? I don't think it was quite as bad in the 80s.

Watching it in bed, sniggering like a loon. The height of luxury. YANBU it has to come back.Ed Milliband was born to be a spitting image puppet!

Morgause Thu 20-Mar-14 21:37:34

YANBU. Loving it. Never missed an episode when it was on.

I'd quite happily offer my voice to do Cheryl Cole, though I'm probably a better singer than she is (and I can't sing). grin

WorraLiberty Thu 20-Mar-14 21:38:36

I would love to see it back grin

There was talk a couple of years ago iirc, but nothing ever came of it!

I bloody loved Spitting Image.

KissesBreakingWave Thu 20-Mar-14 21:55:41

I don't know, a lot of satirists I follow are getting demoralised. Fat fish, small barrel and all that.

I couldn't agree more.
Red Ed basically is a Spitting Image puppet in human form.

YouTheCat Thu 20-Mar-14 21:56:24

So many of the original impressionists have moved on to bigger things though.

Chris Barrie's in talks about another series of Red dwarf.

Coogan is too busy being all Hollywoody and stuff.

Too easy, Kisses?

I've wondered for a long time why we don't have any satire on TV. I think it may be because the BBC feel they have too much to lose by pissing influential politicians off by mocking them. Pity. There has been/is such a wealth of material.

I was only little when Spitting Image was on our screens. I remember a lot of it yet I understood nothing of politics as a child. Of course now it makes a lot more sense in hindsight. I've love to see something similar back on TV/the internet.

It would be brilliant to have Spitting Image back. It was one of the best things on TV ever.

ComposHat Thu 20-Mar-14 22:09:56

I've danced with ten foot pygmies in a Montezuma hall I've met the King of China and a working Yorkshire miner But I've never met a nice South African

Too bloody expensive to do now. It was a very costly show to make.

In the 80s when TV budgets, advertising revenue and viewing figures were big at ITV were huge it was affordable. It used to get viewing figures of 18m so brought in enough advertising revenue to cover the costs of making it.

But yes at its best it was brilliant. I loved Tebbit's portrayal as a bovver boy. It did go off the voil towards the end though.

I agree

Hold a chicken in the air, stick a deckchair up your nose. Buy a jumbo jet and then bury all your clothes.

Paint your left knee green, learn to speak arapaho, climb inside a dog and behead an eskimo....

YES YES YES to the return of Spitting Image!!!

EyesCrossedLegsAkimbo Fri 21-Mar-14 14:38:38

Boris Johnson's puppet couldn't look more Spitting Image than he does already.

TheGreatHunt Fri 21-Mar-14 14:41:47

Yes please!

Surely there must be a cost effective way to do it.
