Do you feel like housework is never ending.

I don't know how friends and family I visit homes look so clean and tidy, where mine is always messy and disorganised.

I tend to spend an hour or two a day just keeping on top of the house work, but come the evening it looks like I have done nothing.

The key I've learnt is to do things as you go along and don't let stuff build up

Since my husband left, my house has been lovely. Tidy 90% of the time and when there is a mess, I don't resent anyone because it's my mess and I'm not cleaning up after anyone else.
I suppose one of the benefits of him leaving Smile

It was tidy. Then the kids came home from school

Not too bad but then my MIL is staying and my Mums been round while I've been at work.
Between them they've done the ironing, made the tea and tidied up a bit!
Lovely Smile

The friends and family you visit have probably ran around like a loonie tidying up before you arrived!

My house currently has toys everywhere, and will stay that way until kids are in bed!

I now know what my mum meant when she used to say "all I do is go round in circles cleaning up after you lot" Grin

Looks like a place I'll be happy to see the back of. New place has a bigger kitchen and a proper garden.

My house is still in somebody elses possession.

Damn solicitors only now found a 'thing' that make it impossible for the current inhabitants to move out.

Damn them all!

My house is at its best on a wednesday afternoon straight after my cleaner has been.

Right now, I have done half the washing up and swept the kitchen floor, but the laundry basket is overflowing.

A shit tip. I'm far too busy composing sonnets for another thread to even contemplate housework!

If you have DC, your house will never look like a showhome. And that's coming from someone who has suffered from OCD. Would your DC prefer a clean kitchen, or an hour's playtime with Mom?

Immaculate (but that's because I have had visitors today) and tidied up even more thoroughly than usual. Otherwise it's fairly tidy at the start of the week and hits messy towards the end. I think if you want tidy you have to enlist the help of everyone in the household to keep things in their place which isn't always easy. I do a periodic spring clean which helps get rid of the clutter and means its easier to maintain the house but it all takes time.

Dinner is in the slow cooker.

DH is walking the dogs.

Messy. In our house it is like shovelling snow whilst it is still snowing.
You clean one room go to the next, come back and there is a toy explosion ruining all your hard work.
We have maybe one day a week where it is tidy, visit on the other 6 days and you would think we never did any house work. It is during those 6 days my in laws will turn up unannounced and look at us like we are lazy.

Mine's a total tip, seriously embarrassing. DH has just worked three six day weeks, including an eleven day straight, and I feel like I've barely slept for days. The tidying can wait.... zzzzzz.

I suspect I will be up to silly o'clock. I even tried fly lady once but then the whole thing went hay wire.

My parents are coming to stay in 6 weeks. I am therefore manically spring cleaning and tidying. I find that regular visitors is the very best way of ensuring my home is always maintained Grin

You've read my mind! Been fantasising about vacuuming under sofas. Any time I get goes on tidying and if I do any proper cleaning it means no relaxation time that evening. And I have a helpful DH!

Does anyone manage to get proper housework done with a toddler around? DS 16mo is a nightmare to try and clean with.

Onsera - I manage to get some housework done with a 16mo boy but he does like to mess in the dust pile if I leave it by the wall instead of shifting it straight away, bad habit of mine! Blush
