If you have a cleaner...

Aibu to please ask what you ask him/her to do on a weekly basis?

Ours has just started (2h pw for a 3 bed house - only one actual bed though) and she has asked me to leave her a note each week with jobs to do.

Can I ask what jobs your cleaner does on a weekly basis please? How about bigger jobs like cleaning the fridge/oven etc? Thank you!

bathrooms, kitchen, hoovering and dusting. Bigger things like oven or fridge would be instead of one of the above and possibly advanced notice if I thought of it.

I don't have one, but would probably ask for dusting and mopping of floors...

Mine start with the washing up, put it away, wipe all kitchen surfaces and appliances on the side. (Kettle, toaster etc) polish table and cabinets, clean windows, put on a load of laundry, fold any that is in the basket.
Clean bathroom/ toilet. Make beds. Vacuum from top to bottom and mop.
Occasionally they will clean the walls and skirting boards, clean internal and external doors.

Same as the PP. Occasionally I'll ask her to swap say the bedrooms for doing the windows or cupboards. If we are away for a while I ask her to do a deep kitchen clean rather than the whole house which isn't going to be messed up. For the oven I use a specialist cleaning company who turn up armed with all the right chemicals!

Oh they always clean the hob and the grill but not the oven.

Dont' have one now but when I did:

cleaning/dusting all surfaces
hoovering all the floors/mop kitchen floor
clean bathrooms & toilets

I would also strip all the beds and put the sheets in the wash & leave dirty towels in a basket. I would ask her to finish washing & drying them (in tumble dryer) then put back on beds/put towels back in bathroom.

A bit of ironing if time and sometimes she would do skirting boards or windows or cooker but not on a regular basis.

Dust and polish surfaces upstairs and down
Clean mirrors
Clean bathroom and loo
Clean kitchen sink
Empty all bins
Hoover whole house
Mop all hard floors

If I want something bigger done like all the windows or the kitchen cupboards in and out I'll pay for an extra hour.

Hoover
Mop
Loos and basins
Kitchen surfaces and hob

The above every week and then we drop in all the other jobs, such as dust/surfaces, deep clean bathrooms, other bits as and when.

Everything I don't want to do myself if I'm paying a cleaner:

Bathrooms
Floors
Windows

NOT ironing. Our cleaner loves doing that, in front of the telly!

Her base jobs are start with kitchen, do sides, cooker, sink, floor then floors throughout downstairs, wipe sofas over and tidy, vacuum up the stairs, do downstairs loo, vacuum upstairs, do bathroom.

She also cleans the windows internally, dusts (inc the bannisters), does cobwebs, on a rotation basis and changes the beds if I ask or if the sheets are left out.

finance princess mine refuses to iron! Unfortunately I only asked after I had agreed to take her on. Hoping she will be good enough at everything else - I don't really iron anything anyway, just Dh's shirts which he has laundered.

Down stairs loo and bathroom, kitchen and hover through out. Wash hard floors and vacuum sofa ( very shedy cats).

Dusting through out; except for the bedrooms. I don't like the idea of anyone in our bedroom and the spare room thanks to hoarder OH is a death trap.

Small 2 bedroom house, I make sure the surfaces are clear and pots are washed, she wipes down all kitchen sides, hoovers stairs, landing and living room, polishes downstairs, wipes out sink and quick wash of the tub, cleans toilet, mops floors in kitchen and hallways, and bedroom floors if necessary. Wipes the windows in the living room and above the kitchen sink.

She does this in 2 hours every fortnight, costs me ÂŁ15.

I let her know my pet peeves are hoovering the stairs and polishing the living room, so she always gets those done. Doesn't do as great a job in the bathroom, but I'm quite happy with a quick wipe over in there if the bits I don't like doing are done.

Large 6 bed house, cleaner comes 9am to 2pm once a week. She wipes and dusts all surfaces, hoovers and mops floors, cleans mirrors and bathrooms, changes bed linen on mine and kids beds. Does ironing and puts clean clothes away. On a 3 week rotation she washes windows inside, outside and wipes skirting boards throughout the house/wipes and dusts doors and frames (sticky fingered little buggers)

Clean kitchen (surfaces, hob & sink), bathroom (bath, toilet, sink & surfaces), hoovering. 1.5h/week in 2-bed flat. I'd ask her to dust but there's clutter everywhere, it's easier to do it myself. I tidy what I can (toys and general clutter) so she can hoover.
