will look back with amazement and horror at the photos of their huge stencilled eyebrows?

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe Sun 16-Mar-14 17:31:29

Can I add 'spider' fake eyelashes, Ronseal fake tan and putting foundation over their lips to that list?

Awitchwithoutchips Sun 16-Mar-14 17:34:38

I call it the drag queen look ( no offence to drag queens! Sure they do their make up better) luckily my 20 yr old spurns this fashion

BoJolly Sun 16-Mar-14 17:38:47

True. However, I was a teenager in the '70s and went out with sparkly stars stuck to my face.

BackforGood Sun 16-Mar-14 17:38:50

Yes, with the rider it's only a small proportion of 20 yr olds that trowel the slap on like this.
Love the 'drag queen' analogy grin

gordyslovesheep Sun 16-Mar-14 17:39:38

that awful dyed black hair, the bad eye brows, the duck face ...

Goblinchild Sun 16-Mar-14 17:40:29

Not the ones round here, that is a very specific look that represents a particular section of the population. In fact it's often hard to tell how old they are, as many mothers and grandmothers also go for the same look.

Have you been looking at this?

This scares the shit out of me! I overplucked my eyebrows as a teen and they never properly grew back - I have to go over them in pencil every day or I look terrible. I'm terrified I look like one of those women and people just aren't telling me!!!

nomoreminibreaks Sun 16-Mar-14 17:57:25

What's worse is that it will be captured forever on Facebook so they can't erase it from their memory. One of the reasons I'm glad I'm as old as I am...

squoosh Sun 16-Mar-14 18:05:24

It's not only the girls making questionable style choices.......

squoosh Sun 16-Mar-14 18:06:25

JonSnowKnowsNothing you look like one of the women in the eyebrow link. I thought you'd want to know.

FatAmy Sun 16-Mar-14 18:07:12

some 20 year olds, my eyebrows are beautiful thank you very much wink

gordyslovesheep Sun 16-Mar-14 18:08:28

wow squoosh did you mean to be so rude and personal?

nasty

BillyBanter Sun 16-Mar-14 18:11:54

What are young uns meant to do if not create memories to cringe at 20 years down the line?

squoosh Sun 16-Mar-14 18:12:09

Oh dear, it was a joke. As obviously I have no idea what she or her eyebrows look like.

Justawaterformeplease Sun 16-Mar-14 18:12:57

That was obviously a joke!

gordyslovesheep Sun 16-Mar-14 18:13:11

BackforGood Sun 16-Mar-14 18:14:39

NearTheWindymill Sun 16-Mar-14 18:16:20

The ones who make me do a double take because they have a shortish top over fawn coloured spray on leggings grin

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe Sun 16-Mar-14 18:23:10

Mine have gone the other way and are very bushy. I feel like I'm overcompensating for my peers sad

Fathertedfan Sun 16-Mar-14 18:25:05

I can tolerate the look on 20 year olds. They are adults (technically), so are old enough to make their own choices about how they look. It does bother me when children of 14 and 15 are emulating it. The whole fakery of hair extensions, bleach white hair/black hair/ little mermaid red hair, massive fake eye lashes which are very often stuck on with semi permanent glue, fake tan, fake nails and an assortment of piercings, is just so.... Bleurgh. Our generation wore a ton of makeup when we were teenagers (80s) but it didn't affect us doing regular children stuff like swimming. It's also didn't take a ton of money and hours to construct..
