to not share my prescribed vitamins with dh?

I went to dr as was feeling run down, did blood test and she gave a prescription for iron and vitamin d, and told me to come back for a check in 4 weeks.
Dh is going through a rough patch, exhausted and with chronic tooth pain. He thinks I should give him some of my prescribed vitamins.
I am refusing.why?
I think he should get himself checked out, what suits me may not suit him. And I can only get the stuff on prescription, I asked at the chemists. Dr wants to know if what she has given me helps as may also have a gluten intolerance.
I have explained all this to dh, but he is really annoyed . Aibu to refuse to share?

Why doesn't your dp just go and buy some vitamins? YANBU. They are prescribed vitamins not a bag of sweets to pass around and share.

YANBU. If he's ill he should see a GP himself and not expect you to supplement him. Plus the GP will wonder why your prescription has disappeared too quickly.

How have you got vitamin D on prescription? The hospital told me I had to buy it.

Lol! Reminds me of my DH who a few days after I gave birth had tooth ache that was apparently so bad nothing but the pain killers the pain natal ward prescribed would do!

A bit of competitive illness methinks!

Hope you feel better soon

YANBU. He has 2 options, he can go to the GP or he can buy vitamins at the chemist / supermarket. He may need different vitamins to you.

Some vitamins including Vit d can be harmful if you have too much so def don't give them to him

Thanks! Good to hear I am not BU! I was doubting myself as he was saying I was being selfish!
He's far too busy to go to dr- who is a 5 minute walk away and open from 7 am!
I am not in the Uk so that is why I can get vit d on prescription, pobble.
Yeah, got to lol at conpetitive illness! Tis so true...
Making broccoli for dinner, that has iron in it, not sure I will share though Wink

I am in the UK and I have high dose Vitamin D on prescription due to long term, severe deficiency. Prescribed Vit D is much, much stronger than over the counter stuff. So no, he should not share your prescription. If he does and his Vit D levels are actually ok, then he runs the risk of vitamin D toxicity (rare but unpleasant!).

Hope you feel better soon.

My ex asked me for one of my prescribed mefenamic acid once. Just because he was running low on his prescribed mefenamic acid. Mine were considerably stronger than his. I had to hide them...

Pfft remind me of my dad he had chronic headaches but would take any pills he found lying around. I had ponstan on prescription for period pain and he took full bottle so there were none left when I needed them. I was not happy, he took my mums hrt too once which was hilarious as we told him he'd get boobs!

I have vitamin D on prescription too, from my GP. Not a mega dose, but 1000iu daily. I was taking 7000iu then 5000iu daily at first. I got mine because of experiencing fatigue for far longer than I should have once I finished my cancer treatment.

You definitely shouldn't share. They might not be the right levels for him; you'll run out sooner than you should and may not be allowed your prescription any earlier to make up for it and also, it might not even solve his problem anyway! He needs to go to the GP himself.
