AIBU?

To wonder why when you ditch Fakebook people take it personally?

A month ago I ditched the devils postbox, it gave me unreasonable amounts of rage. Since then I have had texts from friends (that I rarely see or hear from) demanding to know why I have cut them off!

Should I have posted a public flounce?

I've had people ignore me as I shut my fb down they must think I've blocked them Grin

Try not ever being on Fb in the first place. It elicits the most astonishing 'Oh, so you think you're better than the rest of us nosy time-wasters?'-type responses. It used to be exactly the same when we didn't have a tv - there was some assumption I was some kind of high-minded type who looked down on anyone who followed Eastenders.

Well if you're going to self-righteously insult something they use, it's not surprising they take it personally. Maybe that came across one way or another? Or perhaps they are feeling the loss of that little connection they felt they had with you and are reaching out, if clumsily.

On the other hand, if the people you were friends with on facebook posted things that give you rage, why were you friends with them in the first place? Might be a good thing they think you've ditched them personally.

I didn't post a public flounce when I ditched crapbook and it just went to show how shitty people really are.

If you aren't on FB then people have to go to more effort to contact you. It's laziness on their part.

I've also had people ignore me for deleting my account. They presumed I'd blocked them. Confused

I don't want to explain that I've deleted Facebook because it gives me the rage. Tbh I'm embarrassed it makes me so angry! Grin

I think it says more about your friends than about Facebook. If you're calling it crapbook and fakebook then surely that's driven by your friends list?

I'm on, I block or de friend those who annoy me, simple.

Although you really don't need to explain yourself, simply say "I'm not on there anymore".
