AIBU?

To be nearly naked and in full view and not care?

Writerwannabe83 · 10/03/2014 17:09

Currently 37 weeks pregnant, sporting a very big belly and very big boobs and no matter what I wear I feel really, really uncomfortable. Everything feels so tight and restrictive - bras are unbearable and even my maternity jeans and leggings are leaving waistband imprint marks across my stomach because of how tight they now are.

As a result, whenever I come home I put the heating on, wait for the house to warm up a little and then I strip off down to just my huge sized granny knickers and then happily spend my evening like this Grin

Due to the layout of our estate I know that when I'm in the kitchen (nearly naked cooking or nearly naked washing up for example) people can undoubtedly see me - but I just don't care!! If people can't cope with seeing a heavily pregnant women in just a pair of pants then it's not my problem Grin

I was telling my sister about it earlier and she was Gobsmacked and said I really shouldn't be doing it so as not to offend anyone - she said some people don't like the look of pregnant women, let alone ones with their bump and boobs hanging out!

AIBU though to just not care??
I just want to be semi-naked and comfortable in my own house!!!

I'm a bit concerned about enjoying being semi-naked so much though Grin

I often walk around naked after a shower and don't bother to shut the curtains. I don't stand spread eagled in the window or anything! DP gets all horrified and pearl clutching about it and dashes around shutting curtains. Such a prude! Go for it OP - I'm sure no one is looking anyway.

Well I walk around in my pants and bandue bra all the time. I hate wearing clothes after my evening bath.
Wouldn't like to be without some sort of book covering thought.

I would think you were an absolute loon but I wouldn't be "offended"

Are you on a school route, btw ? If so, expect a queue of piss taking teenagers traipsing by your house every day. Grin

YANBU. Your house, your rules.

Dont like it, dont look in my windows!

Not unreasonable.

I wore dh clothes when very pregnant as they were more comfortable

I think you could put on a big T-shirt or a nightie and that wouldn't be restrictive. TBH I think you're being a bit of an exhibitionist and it would apply even if you weren't pregnant.

37 weeks here as well and am doing the same.

Well, vest top and knickers as don't want to traumatise 11 year old ds! I've given up on bras, my ribs ache too much.

I did have to jump off the bed sharpish today though when the window cleaner showed up.

How is she being an exhibitionist in her own home though?! Do you stand in the window and do naked star jumps OP?

Evie2014 · 10/03/2014 17:35

I find a big vest top holds everything together well, especially when cooking. (25 weeks but because it's DCDA twins the bump already looks 35 weeks.)

Totally with you about the wandering about in knickers though. Just as long as boobs and bump are supported somewhat. Hence the vest top.

I don't think naked cooking is advisable full-stop.

I agree I wouldn't be offended, I'd probably find it amusing. After you've had one dc the whole of the hospital has probably seen all your bits anyway so any notion of privacy has to be quickly abandoned.

You are not BU to be naked in your own home but you are being VU not to shut the blinds! If you saw a naked man blatantly standing in view of the street then you would probably think him a pervert! Shut the blinds or get a loose t-shirt!

I can't see that anyone has the right to complain of being offended if they choose to look through the windows of someone else's house. But I must admit I don't see why a loose T shirt wouldn't keep you comfortable and save a bit on the heating.

Naked cooking could potentially be painful Shock

Naked washing up... as long as you let the water cool a bit first...

I think when you get to naked lawn mowing or naked tree surgery you could have a problem, but at the minute your naked (or nearly-naked) antics seem fine.

I'm 33 weeks pregnant and will probably end up doing nearly-naked everything soon.

I'm not in view of the street Smile - the only people who can see into my kitchen are the people who live in the houses behind mine and will be able to see me from their living rooms Grin

And definitely no naked star jumps Grin

I know I could wear a loose t-shirt.....but it's just so much comfier having nothing on. The skin over my bump is so tight that having clothes rub on it is very sore and uncomfortable. My skin just feels so sensitive that having it exposed to the air is such a relief.

"people can undoubtedly see me"

That says it all..

OP - you're an exhibitionist Grin. Nothing wrong with that though, just not sure why you're asking AIBU, that being the case. You're in your own home anyway

I refuse to walk around fully dressed at home, Ive a big thing about feeling relaxed and free. I wouldnt do it where people can undoubtedly see me, however. I don't want people seeing all my bits hanging out thank you very much, Im sure I'd get lots of smirking 'good mornings' from neighbours if I did that. If my neighbours did it Id have a good laugh to myself but I wouldn't be offended.

Littlebonnie - the OP isn't fully naked though. If I saw a fully naked man in his own home, I would just resign myself to the fact that he is in his own home and free to do as he pleases BUT if he was wearing just his boxers then who would really care??
The OP has her undoubtedly super duper comfortable granny knickers on.

I walk around naked in my home a fair bit. Am not pg and am more comfortable wearing loose clothes but I tend to rush around in the nude waiting for my deodorant/body lotion to dry when getting ready in the morning! Probably wouldn't do the cooking like that though. People could see me but we're in a flat on a high floor so they'd have to make quite an effort to look inside.

It's your home, your body and your business. Serves any nosy parkers right if they get offended about it!
