I'm a bit pissed off, but for a different (though related) reason.

"Check 'em lads" is the strap line for a testicular cancer charity.

I don't think it should be diverted like that.

If it gets people checking I suppose it can only be a good thing.

The intent behind it however....well no you're not being cynical. It is The Sun after all hmm

The No More Page 3 campaign is gaining support and not going away, so anything that makes them seem less like porn-mongers and more like they don't live in the 1970s seems like a good idea to them. Regardless of how transparent it is.

Here's that charity's website if anyone wants to counteract the tits.

Prostrate cancer. <snigger>

It's the sun. Of course they went for the boobs.

Maybe it's just me but I don't 'get' why they'd sexualise something which is pretty much a life/death situation. It hardly appeals to women now does it?? (Yes I am aware men can get breast cancer too)

Since breast cancer strikes men as well as women and at any age I'm waiting for them to print a picture of a 70 year old bloke checking for it.

HadABadDay2014 Tue 04-Mar-14 17:30:31

Men can get breast cancer, and I open they have put this in the article.

It's The Sun's way of pretending that they give a shit about women and breast cancer-why isn't there a survivor of breast cancer who has had a mastectomy (for example) on the front page?

Just another excuse to show soft porn but on the front page instead of the inside cover of their scummy rag-honestly this has made me so angry

OnIlkelyMoorBahtat Tue 04-Mar-14 21:53:16

As one of The New Statesman journos said, can't wait to see their colon cancer campaign grin

WooWooOwl Tue 04-Mar-14 22:56:06

I agree with you that they should have chosen something else.

Breast cancer is awful, but it's had plenty of publicity and more awareness needs to be raised about the other types of cancer and their symptoms. It's a wasted opportunity IMO.

The whole thing is disgraceful and a very cynical ploy.

The only silver lining is for the No More Page 3 campaign - this may well be demonstrative of the paper feeling that the campaign really is gathering pace.
