AIBU?

To think Prince William and his wife are lacking appreciation of their position

and good fortune?

He just seems a bit of an over-privileged posh boy?

I know everyone says he has lovely manners, but we can expect a bit more than that, surely?

They have just hired a 'forrin' nanny a) after making an enormous PR fuss about not having one b) at a time of high UK unemployment.

The list of god-parents for their baby was a bit multi-barrelled and Hmm No foreign royals, as is traditional, but Not the slightest whiff of any demographic diversity either.

There seem to be a LOT of luxury holidays going on with these two.

The uni course he is doing has been especially designed for him and seems designed to prepare him for inheriting the enormous (private) Duchy of Cornwall. Not exactly public-spirited?

In the much-hyped first post-baby interview, he was keen to promote a charity saving Kenyan Rhinos. Nothing intrinsically wrong with that, but the line between animals he shoots for fun and animals he wants to save is unclear and anyhow a charity for under-privileged (UK?) children would have been the nice, publicity-shrewd thing to do, maybe?

For a couple with a great deal of expensive PR expertise at their disposal they seem to be slightly missing the mark a bit too often.

They are leeches

She has had the most expensive education money can buy and she decided to spend 9 years sitting around waiting for a rich man to propose.

Ghastly, ghastly, ghastly.

Another bloated generation of the royal family who spend their lives smiling and waving at our expense.

Are you not in the UK and paying for them Quinto? Lucky you.

Quite Hermione. Didn't someone get jumped all over in the press for rather mildly contradicting the notion that she was a 'good royal model'?

With you maybe, not with the vast majority.

There is a big difference between killing the odd pheasant and killing rhinos. What is wrong with a foreign nanny / help? Why shouldn't they pick godparents from amongst their friends and family. Do you select your friends on the basis of ethnic diversity, or because they are...well...friends. Also, you contradict yourself - foreign godparents wanted but not a nanny.

And they support a huge range of charities.

I'm sat here thinking of god parents for my youngest child, silly me there I was thinking it was about helping my child's future relationship with god.

Must try harder given that its now an opportunity to show how right on I am.

I lack appreciation of their position. I don't appreciate them in the slightest!

I'm just shocked at how ancient Prince William looks. He's only my age, he looks well over 40

He didn't ask to be born into that family and whilst I'm no royalist I think there are probably far nastier characters knocking about. He's served his country in the armed forces and now for the rest of his life will have to do royal engagements. Yes he and Kate reap the material rewards of that but so what? Also it's up to her what she does with her expensive education isn't it?

What's wrong with foreign nannies, exactly?

Report
IamInvisible · 02/03/2014 21:24

I can not stand them.

Apparently Kate has written about her experiences as an RAF wife in a book with other wives' experiences. Like she's got any idea what the rest of us actually have to put up with!

Oh Rose we get fed all this stuff about how 'normal' they are. That selection of godparents revealed how far from normal they are. They would have been better off going with Royal Godparents if only to obscure that fact.

The tax payer bank rolls them. On that basis it would be good PR to hire from within the UK, especially in a bad economy.

When Diana was a good 10 years younger than Waity she was making headlines by speaking up for those with AIDS/ HIV+. It was controversial and ground breaking stuff.

Anyone know Kate's opinion on anything? How has she used being possibly the most high profile woman in the world to do anything but get her hair done?

I think.they are disgustingly priviliged. But I.did really like her belted black coat in the DM pics of them at Bunga Bunga club tonight.
Not that I would ever be able to afford one mind you. I am on the wrong kind of benefits, unlike them.

I didn't say I wanted I wanted foreign godparents. Someone who was state-educated would have been nice though.

You could level similar accusations to anyone who has inherited a lot of money and who doesn't work for it. Oh wait, they do do some work for it. Which kind of puts them ahead of multitudes of non-entity trust fund babes and equal with working but irritating sleb offspring, such as Stella McCartney and worse the Geldofs/Jaggers/Osbornes.

I think William and Kate might be slightly better company than that lot.

Jealous anyone? Grin They've hired a foreign nanny - and????? So has my my DH's cousin!
They have had two luxury holidays - and????? My colleague's son had been on five foreign holidays before he was one! How does that make you a nasty person?
They have broken with protocol when it came to the christening - and????? Many people have decided to break away with family tradition with no detrimental effect on the child's well-being.
He's gone to university in 'preparation to take over his Dad's 'land' - and?????? Many generations 'take-over' dad's businesses. My driving instructor passed his buisness onto his daughter. Does that make HER a bad person?
I'm with elQuintoConyo - couldn't give a rats ass what they do. Not sure why anyone is wasting their time creating an AIBU thread about it and quite frankly, why the hell am I wasting my time writing this?????

Also a big difference between shooting game birds for eating, and hunting endangered species so at least get your facts right.
Oooh a forriner as a nanny, how very could they. At least they aren't rascist?

There are hundreds and thousands of over priviledged posh boys. He (and she) don;t seem any worse than most and I don;t think he's funded by the govt is he?

Not that I care anyway its peanuts compared to other stuff that goes on.

There isn't any contradiction between wanted to preserve endangered species and hunting (even if you don;t personally approve - I'm sure you can understand the difference between endangered and bred for hunting/plentiful). Infact unless you are vegetarian it seems bizarre to complain about animals being killed Confused

Who did you think they were going to have for god-parents Confused a random selection of strangers who are demographically representative of the UK or close friends who are every bit as privileged as them? more Confused

HermioneWeasley - couldn't put it better myself!

What exactly is the point of these people? They are no better than benefit scroungers as far as I'm concerned (actually I have no issue with benefit scroungers as they actually have a good reasons for their lifestyle).

Waste of space.

Meh, I couldn't care less what they do with their time. They cost me less personally than someone on benefits does.

He did his military service well and I feel sorry for him that he wasn't allowed to continue.

I'll just let them get on with it, they do me no harm.
