You may wish to join that thread.

Also stop smoking service as well. I also recommend Allen carr stop smoking book.

I personally couldn't get on with vaping but wish you well giving up

I smoked 20 a day for the last 20 years - decided to quit 6 weeks ago because I can't afford it, I'm fed up of stinking of fags and I'm quite worried about the earth aspect Grin my husband bought me an e cigarette after I spent the first week eating us out of house and home and my god, I bloody love it!! I can hand on heart say that I haven't cheated once, haven't had a cig in 6 weeks - I don't actually use the e cig very often, it's more a case of knowing it's there if that makes sense? So go for it - but an e cigarette - it's a cliche but by god, if I can do it, you most definitely can!

I am a twenty-five year chain smoker who tried everything and got free five weeks ago thanks to vaping.

It can happen. Good luck.

I smoked 30 a day, for 20 years. Stopped over 8 months ago with an ecig. Worked for me. One tip, don't buy the ones from supermarkets which look like cigarettes. Get a proper battery and tank system. Good luck

Come over to the thread linked above.

I was a 20 a day person for 35+ years & now have not had a cig for nearly 18 months - not a stealth boast, I am just so proud & so thankful for the emergence of e-cigs & vaping.

Be easy on yourself, fromparis - it takes a little getting used to.

I smoked for 40 years and stopped 18 months ago. The E-cig has been my trusty sidekick and without it I would probably not stopped.

You can do it Smile

Yep. I stopped about 5 months ago Thanks to the E cig. It was by far the most painless way to get off the fags (and I've tried them all!) I'm now winding down the E cig use and plan to be free from nicotine in all its forms by the summer.
Good luck!

You can do it! I gave up with one in oct and knew after a few days I would never smoke again. Dp was a heavy smoker for 30 years and gave up with one on nye, he tried a real one about two weeks in and hated it and put it out.

A few tips try a few different flavours to find one that works for you. I love mint, dp tobacco but took a while to find the right one. Get yourself kitted out with spare wicks, car charger etc. Nothing more frustrating than it not working.

We're both thrilled, its so much nicer, doesn't smell, saving loads of money and we both feel so much better. Dp used to cough up phlegm every morning, which pretty much stopped instantly. We're slowly weaning down on nicotine with a view to stopping altogether at some point.

Good luck.

Do it!

I haven't had a cig since november, after smoking for nearly 25 years.

I've saved so much money & I smell much nicer Smile

I smoked for 23 years, usually between 15 and 20 a day - I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease last year and advised to try and stop if I could so had a good reason to (like you); I think I always failed to give up before because I didn't really want to deep down - this time was different because I wanted to give up, not because I was being nagged to.

I ordered ecigs online (started with "zebra", which my husband still uses but switched to "nucig" last month because they do low/very low & zero nicotine refills as well as standard which I wanted for tapering back the nicotine). I use menthol as I wanted to break away from the tobacco taste, but also wanted to keep it as close to actually smoking as possible for the psychological habit side of things.

Anyway, I switched to ecigs on the Saturday before xmas and haven't fallen off the wagon so far - in fact I am already going for days where I don't use the ecig at all (some days I do, but it doesn't matter because I'm not smoking so haven't 'failed').

The "Zebra" brand are quite large and chunky to hold, but the "Nucig" brand are closest to actual cigarette dimensions - I have them in black (with diamante tips!) rather than the normal cigarette colour and a snazzy ecig case to keep it in with a spare battery and refills.

I cannot recommend ecigs enough to anyone who wants to give up - it still gives you the satisfaction and feeling of actually smoking, without the horrible extras.

Good luck!!

I love mine. I am unusual in that I haven't smoked for 15 years, but I have started vaping. You may say why???? but it fills a "gap" (stops me doing worse things and I don't drink so much now which was becoming a problem). I have the Tornado E-go C from Totally Wicked and my favourite flavour is Watermelon though I also like Cherry Cigar. An ex smoker would probably prefer a blend that has a tobacco undertone to the flavour.

It can take a while to get used to your device, how it works, how to service it to get the best result, etc but I suggest you persevere. Vaping doesn't have any of the associated health problems associated with smoking, and whilst its new-ish, it HAS to be better than smoking. Nicotine itself is one of the very least bad things about actual smoking; its all the other stuff and the tar and the fact that its burning and all that stuff. Vaping is also cheaper. Its basically food grade flavouring, liquid glycerine (or some kind of watery stuff) and nicotine, if you choose to use a fluid that contains nicotine (which you would if giving up nicotine).

I think they are great. I love mine.

Vaping for me feels just like having a cig but without the coughing and the lingering smelly smoke.

I get a throat hit and produce vapour but it disappears quickly. DD thinks the kitchen smells gorgeous because I can vape indoors and it smells faintly of toffee popcorn / chocolate / cherry.

I can vape before going in to a supermarket and just put it back in my bag - no grinding out a fag and binning it. Similarly, when people are struggling to get a cig lit in the wind and rain, I can take it out and have a long, satisfying drag.

I see other smokers looking curiously at me and non-smokers turning their heads away from my vapour only to turn back and sniff it Grin

The positives are endless.

I have one of these

Sorry, didn't answer all the questions. I drink a lot and don't miss real cigs with wine at all. Or with the morning tea.

I vape inside the house and it is possible to vape in hospitals, theatres and supermarket aisles if done discreetly.

I've used a range of websites / vendors and have found that even with standard postage, they'll get your orders to you within 48 hours.

I have recently given up. I didn't want to go down the e cig route as I wanted to break the habit. So I am on champix that I got from the stop smoking nurse at my gp surgery. The tablets are fabulous. I smoked for 25+ years. I haven't had a cigarette for 12 days now and apart from missing the habit occasionally I have been fine. And I have so much more money.

Vaping is the 'smoking' the e-cigarette - from evaporating the liquid
You can vape indoors, but some places do ban them and I wouldn't in shops/offices etc, but there is no law against it
It feels a bit like smoking, but not quite the same
You can do anything whilst vaping you could do whilst smoking
You do it when you feel like it, like smoking, but you do not have to vape in units of 1 cigarette - ie you can take a couple of drags only if you want
You can buy from many places. You can but the rubbish sealed versions from supermarkets/petrol stations etc. I went to an e-cigarette store to get mine as they explian all the options etc. once you have the battery, cartomisor(thing you fill with fluid) and e-liquid you have all you need and can buy more on t'interweb or in the shop
