Wwenr to an employment fair last week and gave my details to the local call centre company. Passed the telephone interview and due to go to the group assessment interview tomorrow. AIBU to think that I'm lining myself up for another shitty job that will probably not be flexible?
I have my eight year old and really dont want to be working possibly till 10pm at night and weekends and dumping her with relatives who are not always eager and willing?
On the other hand, I could take the positive view and use it as a leappad to a better job?
Left last jobs in social care and retail for same reasons.

I have the skills n qualifications , just give me a mon to fri job pls?
Bloody hate working anyway. I'd much rather be a free spirit.

Given that you haven't been offered the job yet I think you'd be foolish not to go.

Don't poohpooh it until you've tried it.

Jobs like this are perfect leap pads and are often more flexible than you might imagine. It could well be a rubbishy starter job but if you're looking for work and have been off the market a while, that's where the ladder starts.

I don't think many people particularly love working. It's just something that you have to do to pay the bills.

When I worked in a call centre (with a Masters degree), people worked different shifts ie a straight 9-5 shift.

Unless you know for sure what your hours would be and unless you know for sure that the job is yours, YABU.

I will go and will appear enthusiastic. I think I'll just have to be firm and honest about my availability from the outset and say I won't work Sundays and can only work Office hrs during the week. If they don't want me, that will be fine. Filled with dread. waiting to hear from another interview about an admin job mon to fri. should hear by mon.

Thanks for the kick up the jacksi ladies, you're are all quite right. I think I'm just disillusioned with looking for a job. I'm just managing to get rid of this mother guilt burden I've carried for years.
