Story in the Daily Fart today that research says this.

I reckon I look in the mirror for 5 minutes to do my make up and a couple more times for a moment after eating to check theirs no cheese on my face .

Yes when I blow dry my hair...takes 45 minutes!

Ha! I'm doing well if I manage 5 minutes in total.

I rarely look in the mirror. I don't think I am a bad old sort but I am ageing.. Sunlight is not my friend. My new fangled phone has the unfortunate habit of doing that reverse camera thing. I needed counselling after that I can tell you!

I put my make up on in the morning and thats the first and last look.
I like the emperors new clothes approach..

HA - ten minutes to do my makeup in the morning then about 0.3 secs every time I visit the loo during the day and happen to catch a glimpse of my flustered, red face and awful fuzzball hair.
Who writes these wanky articles?!
And who the F does this "research?" For what purpose??

I don't wear make-up, but do a quick check to make sure that there isn't toothpaste on my chin and that my hair doesn't look too weird.

45 minutes to do your hair?! How often?

Ha. I certainly don't . Probably less than five minutes.

I never look in the mirror, I broke my decent one, so I look in my shiny kettle to do my hair and makeup for all of about 40 seconds a day Grin

I look in bathroom mirror to do teeth. Bedroom mirror for mascara. Hall mirror to check not grown extra head before leaving house. 10 mins?

I do however GLANCE in car windows or shop windows or some such just to check I've not dissolved into an embarrassing mess according to where I am.

If that's another 15 I'd be a very happy glamour puss.

55 minutes seems a long time. Probably not more than about 5 - 10 mins today.

I spent longer checking the mirrors in the car (to keep an eye on what the other traffic was up to) than I did gazing at my face today.

I have mirrors everywhere so teeth cleaning and face washing, moisturising morning and night done looking in the mirror. If I wear make up thats more time. Checking clothes before I head out the door. Doing hair.It probably does add up over the day. My dd does hair and makeup every day and probably puts the average up.

5-10 minutes in the morning to brush hair, clean teeth (and make sure I've not got a smear of toothpaste anywhere). I glance in the mirror when I go to the toilet at work- but only because the mirror is above the sink so unavoidable really. And that's it, unless I'm going out in the evening (which is rare!) when I'll spend another 10 minutes or so putting on a bit of makeup.

I use it to put my mascara on in the morning which takes about 1-2 minutes. Then again to glance at bed time to make sure Ive washed it off again, so thats about 1-2 seconds.

However, I am scruffy and couldnt give many shits about my appearance.
As long as Ive got clothes on and Im clean then Im not bothered.

This has meant Ive gone out the house with stickers on the side of my face before, chocolate powder (from my latte) on my nose and mascara down my cheeks (chopping onions) and tonnes more that I probably didnt know about.

55 minutes?

Bollocks. Some maybe, but not average, no way.

Who gives a flying fuck how long women spend looking in the mirror. Perhaps if the daily mail printed fewer stories about the innumerable physical flaws women dare to have then maybe we wouldn't be so worried what we looked like.

Even when I dry my hair I don't look in the mirror til the last few minutes to straighten it out.

I just can't believe it's the average Confused

I definitely believe this - I think a fair chunk of that is probably done whilst driving :)

Report
LaurieFairyCake · 25/02/2014 20:50

I tend to look at the road while driving and only in the mirror to look behind me

Unless that's what's you meant ? And you spend a lot of time looking in your rear view mirror for zombies Grin

5 minutes in the morning to put make up on so I don't scare the children too much at school.

2 minutes to take it off again.

Possible additional minutes spent examining spots. Maximum of 10 minutes a day.

Well, there must be some women who spend every waking moment staring into one to make up that average, given how little most of us do Hmm

Brushing hair and putting it back - 2 minutes
A quick glance in the one by the door before I go out - 5 seconds
A glance after going to the loo, just because it is above the basin in most places - seconds rather than minutes
Probably see myself in the mirrored wardrobe doors while changing to go to bed

Plus an occasional 5 minute attack with the tweezers when I notice I'm starting to sprout significant facial hair Grin

Rubbish. A few minutes to do makeup. A few minutes getting dressed. A couple if times in the toilet at work.

55 minutes? Nonsense.

About 2 minutes in the morning while I'm washing my face & brushing teeth, same in the evening. About 1 minute to 'style' my hair ie vaguely find the parting. I don't wear makeup & wear my hair the same every day, no hairdryer required.

Who did they ask? Models, TV presenters, make up counter women, hairdressers?

It's one of those nonsense surveys like when they always say that the average family throws away several hundred quids worth of food a year isn't it?

The claimed average is so stupidly big that it is unbelievable.
