AIBU?

To think it's bloody pointless to post on AIBU

If you aren't prepared to be told that actually yes you are being bloody unreasonable?

Why? Before posting on AIBU I always know that I could get the response that I don't want and I'm prepared to take it if that's what the majority think.

I don't disagree.

I think sometimes people haven't considered that people really will disagree.

I think some are taken a aback at the bitchiness force of the disagreement.

I think some think we can read their minds and so they don't give enough info in the first place.

I think some post in the heat of emotion and don't think at all.

I don't start threads in AIBU

Also,

I think some are new to the site, come here first and aren't used to being disagreed with assertively (not aggressively).

I think some are deluded

I am not sure it's the being told they are being unreasonable that causes the issue but I think that there are people who get nasty and personal about what they put.

I have lurked as a guest on here for some time and have found it hard not to feel sorry for some people with the way people cam get attacked.

I think most people suspect that they are being a little bit unreasonable when they post here.

Some posters don't simply tell the op that they abu though.
They launch into a snide condescending twatfest. Then proclaim "what did you expect? It's AIBU!"

Yes. or make faces and hand out grips

Oh god, the grips. I doubt it was even funny the first time.

Grin bigbum I'll just skulk off into the corner and hang my head in shame.

I agree that some definitely just find the forcefulness of some posters difficult to cope with but I have seen some where the response has been something like "YAB a little bit U" and a strop worthy of my 2.5 year old DD has been thrown.

I just find it odd and have nothing better to do with my time tonight than have a wee moan Smile

I also admit I threw out a Hmm face tonight, however the post (actually it was a post further down from the OP) was bloody weird.

yes op drives me dotty. if you don't want opinions don't bloody ask.

I honestly think that some poster's don't give enough thought before they press post message.

If in doubt about the response, don't post, there are just some ready to swoop in to be nasty just for the sake of it.

I feel sorry for those who start fun threads and get a hard time.
Those who disagree with huge majorities make me laugh. The postman thread springs to mind. Was awesome.

I think, when people post on aibu (if they actually have got a genuine aibu and not some random chat question which they put on aibu because they are too daft to understand how Mumsnet works), they genuinely mostly think they anbu and they just want validation. They might expect a couple of dissenting voices, but it is sometimes amusing to see their amazement and denial when 95% of posters think that they actually abu - see the infamous super soaker thread, as a prime example.

Postman thread?? I'm intrigued.

Yes, this is what gives me the irrational rage.

Was the super soaker the one at the party?

Op was angry because her postie changed a tyre for someone and was chatty with others. She was waiting for a parcel - which she got. Most replies were along the lines of we want your postie, he sounds lovely. She kept disagreeing. It deteriorated to her mentioning Hitler and loads of sparkling wit from everyone else. including me, I was ignored. Bitter, me? No Grin

Is postie thread still around?

Sounds entertaining. I say they annoy me but sometimes you really do just have to laugh. It's like banging your head repeatedly against a wall.

At one point you just need to give up Grin

I think sometimes you can get told YABU or get the face because people read the post differently than you meant it, and your choices are to suck it up, or endlessly post saying "but that's not quite what I meant...."

That postman thread was brilliant. I wonder if it's still around. Yes, Hitler was misunderstood and pics of posties in shorts and a Very Important Letter.

I agree that it is pointless to post on AIBU - for a different reason to you though. I think it is a waste of time because it so often degenerates into a lets slate the OP exercise, its the done thing to wade in with size nines and throw your weight about no holds barred with scant regard for the OP's perspective. This sounds like I am personally scarred by AIBU - am not, I don't post dilemmas on AIBU (I wouldn't be so naïve). If I have an issue and want to canvass opinions on Mumsnet I do not post on AIBU and I carefully select my wording to avoid providing inadvertent ammunition.

Feel sorry for the innocents, wet behind the ears, who receive baptism by fire when they stray onto AIBU
