to feel really bad about being signed off for 2 weeks?

I've just been signed off work for the first time in my life- I'm just over 28 weeks pregnant with DC1 & am really struggling with back pain linked to hypermobility. It's stopping me sleeping- this morning I have been awake since 3am. I sit at a desk all day which really doesn't help.
It's a really unhelpful time for me to be off work, we're low on staff and it's our busiest time of year and I just feel really guilty to be adding to my boss's stress. sad
is it normal to be feeling this guilty?

Don't feel guilty about it. It's out of your control. Concentrate on taking it easy and keeping comfortable. ( I would feel the same)

Guilt is a normal part of being a working parent, right from the start I'm afraid. You could ask if there is anything you could do from home if you like, but make sure you look after your back if you do.

Don't feel guilty but do ask for a desk assessment and if necessary call access to work to have a look.

I've got EDS and feel your pain but I'm actually more comfortable at work since they adjusted my workstation than I am sat at the computer at home

Yes it is normal, but better to be off to recuperate, than have anything worse happen. Try to get some rest if you can and distract yourself (preggo-reflexology / massage, some strengthening exercise if you can manage it, cruising around MN???) Can you take in an exercise ball when you go back to help with the back ache?
Give yourself a break hon.

Oh yes, desk assessment!

Thank you, at least I know I'm normal! Just feel guilty as I'm not ill in myself, just physically, iyswim? I'm sure by the end of this week I'll be well into the swing of it!
Thanks everyone thanks

Pregnancy related absence is protected. Don't feel guilty at all.

Hi op, dont feel bad. Im 29 weeks and suffering spd too. I called in sick today as i work in an acute nhs setting and my managers have made zero adaptations for me despite me being unable to stand. I was at work yesterday and today i cant put my trousers on or get to the toilet as im so sore. I am honestly past feeling guilty now. You take care and try and get some rest.

Don't feel bad at all - I was initially signed off at 10 weeks for pregnancy related issues and haven't been back. Baby is due in 4 weeks and so I have been off for 26 weeks now - the guilt was there at first but as has been said, the pregnancy and baby's health ALWAYS comes first!!!
