I'm 26 but I really feel 46, I'm tired from running after dd1 (3) and being up in the night with dd2(3months).

I can't wait for them to be teenagers so they can do things for themselves!

Aeroflotgirl Thu 20-Feb-14 22:49:00

I am the same, dd is 7 and is much more self sufficient, ds us just 2 and is like a mini tornado destroying everything in his path, I cannot wait for him to be older

AmeliaToppingLovesShopping Thu 20-Feb-14 22:56:48

No because when DD3 is 13 I will be 44 and I really don't want that grin

Nospringchickendipper Thu 20-Feb-14 22:58:14

There is a saying "Be careful about what you wish for." I have teenagers I wish I could go back to when they were younger.
It doesn't get any easier when they are older.

AnyoneforTurps Thu 20-Feb-14 22:59:50

But, on the plus side, being 44 is rather nice smile

teenagetantrums Thu 20-Feb-14 23:02:56

be careful what you wish for teenage year are hard

jellybaby25 Thu 20-Feb-14 23:04:03

Yes, I think you are being unreasonable. Unless you are depressed, in which case, I would say go and see a doctor to get some support.

HighBrows Thu 20-Feb-14 23:04:31

Don't wish for teens, I'd rather babies and kiddies. Do you want to swap?

shakinstevenslovechild Thu 20-Feb-14 23:06:10

Don't wish their lives away, as hard as it is to see now you will miss these days when they are all grown up.

expatinscotland Thu 20-Feb-14 23:08:19

It gets better. Don't wish it away. It's so short.

ForgettableTampon Thu 20-Feb-14 23:10:07

Teens are hard in a different way understatement

The early years are pretty gruntworky

TheOriginalNutcracker Thu 20-Feb-14 23:10:13

I have 2 teens and an 11 yr old. I'd rather have toddlers any day lol.

rosieposey Thu 20-Feb-14 23:12:58

What expat said.

DD's are 21,18 and 16 and it's not the same as when they were younger, so I had DS's who are 5 and 14 months ( feeling old with baby DS though as at 42 am absolutely knackered!)

misdee Thu 20-Feb-14 23:13:19

Mine are 13, 11, 9 tomorrow, 5, 3 and 1.

Yes the toddlers are exhausting in their run about like looneys all day, then go from insanely apply to grumpy in seconds.

But the older ones have me trying to split myself in half with all the running them to and from places.

honeybeeridiculous Thu 20-Feb-14 23:14:33

Give me teens any day instead of toddlers. My youngest is 16 & much easier than when he was 3!

sadbodyblue Thu 20-Feb-14 23:16:03

you will be just as tired with teens.

waiting up for them to come home from parties and knowing they are in a car with a 17 year old driver.

you have it easy now, really you do.

you know where your most precious people are every second of every day.

wait for gap years, uni years, fears of drink/drugs/ exams and emotional upheavals.

mrsjay Thu 20-Feb-14 23:16:11

having a 3 yr old and a baby must be hard I left 5 years between mine and it was still hard sometimes, in a few years you will be a bit freer (is that a word) of your children and you will eventually get a sleep honestly you will smile

steppemum Thu 20-Feb-14 23:16:40

mine are 11, 9 and 6. The 6 year old is the easiest, because she is the youngest and I have done this age twice already and the older ones have complex problems and she doesn't

mrsjay Thu 20-Feb-14 23:16:49

and tbh teenagers are just over grown toddlers really

Elderberri Thu 20-Feb-14 23:18:08

No I understand. I am not a earth mother. Always wanted more, glad I only have 2.

WorraLiberty Thu 20-Feb-14 23:19:45

The time goes so fast when they're little

Until they become teens and believe me, it can't go fast enough grin

AwfulMaureen Thu 20-Feb-14 23:19:56

My Mum and my sister say it gets harder not easier. Teens come with more worries. They wipe their own noses and bottoms but then stay out late...and you don't know where they are! Imagine that!

mumminio Thu 20-Feb-14 23:21:11

yanbu, you have a 3 month old and that's exhausting. If you still feel like this once he's 1 (and you have had enough sleep) then go and see a doctor. In the mean time, join a new parents group for support.

"This too shall pass". It will seem like this time has flown by...but it doesn't feel like that when you're in the middle of it.

This, exactly! Love them and make the most of what you have. Don't imagine for a minute that it gets easier - it's just different!

NearTheWindmill Thu 20-Feb-14 23:27:22

Mine are 19 and nearly 16. And believe me - ime teenagers are easier but I remember the halcyon days when two blonde beasts were all over me and thought I was their universe as well as the moon and the stars. Those days when they were climbing over me - one from the right and one from the left leave a gaping hole. The days of discovery and awe and when I could influence.

I know you are doing the hard yards and I remember how very hard it was but please enoy those days because they are gone too soon and you will never be as needed again.
