AIBU?

To be completely freaked out that we've not had a winter

Seriously, I'm weirded out.

2 very light frosts the whole winter. Not cold enough to put the heating on hardly.

I don't remember a winter like this in 40 years.

Yes, the news stories are all about the terrible floods but I've heard nothing to explain why there's been no wintry weather.

Are you in the South, OP?

You've just been used to the winters since 2009 which were much colder than the winters for a good few years before that. This winter was more like pre-2009 ones.

Because all of our weather has been in the form of mild westerlies, nothing really from the north or east.

We have used half the gas in this 12 month period (which included the very cold march last year)than we did in the previous 12 months. Sadly it's been off set by roof repairs.

It's not over yet ! Last year we had a ton of snow at the end of March!

I agree I'm in Edinburgh and we've had nothing. My brother lives in rural Aberdeenshire and they've had nothing either.

Yes, in the southeast.

It hasn't been like this ever. Has anyone got any stats or know where I can find them?

YANBU. It makes me feel in a bit of a panic. No idea why, just a general sense that something is wrong.

I remember miserable grey winters in the 80s, but never a non-winter like this.

It been freezing in South Wales.

That's it procrastinating, it feels like there is something actually wrong.

I feel unsettled.

I'm in the SE and agree that this winter has been similar to a run of winters pre-2009.

They were so mild I considered chucking out my snow boots.

I'm not weirded out though. I 'ates the snow...

Is there going to be snow this year? Feel really silly asking but can't ask anyone I know either..

Its barely dropped 8 degrees for ages. I am going out without a coat or jacket, in FEBRUARY! It's not over yet though, had snow in march and April before.

It's been weird... usually even in the SE we get a proper snowfall once every winter, and quite a few frosts. It just feels Wrong.

I'm going to Lapland for a few days next week and am really excited about seeing some proper winter!

HadaBadDay I am in South Wales too and I have only hadt to de-ice my car twice. I knew that we would have a mild winter as I bought in the sales last year.. Ice cleats. A sledge. Snowboots. Therefore it was destined to be snowless.
I did go camping last Easter (because it was Easter) -4.Shock It would have been more pleasant from the whole of November to now than last Easter.

It has been cold but agree that I've hardly had the heating cranked up much (London).

I'm expecting a horrible summer of heat waves.

We have all the snow and freezing cold here, so sick and tired of this hellish winter.

Seeing blossom on the tree down the road today freaked me out....

Blossom in February!!??

Hayfever in February?!?!?! Will cost a fortune in antihistamines if I start now. I am now questioning whether I have a cold that won't go away or if it is the start of hayfever....

Well on the Yorkshire coast I've not had my bobble hat off since October. It's been cold but not as wintry as the last couple of years, thank goodness.

This January was 2c above the mean jan central England temp. So far February is on course to be the same.

Swish, it looks very unlikely this season. As for the coming winter? Who knows!

Report
Whatsthatnoise · 19/02/2014 21:14

Its because back in October I finally admitted that I'm not a teenager anymore and bought a proper warm coat with a hood and everything. Its barely been cold since :)

I don't think we do get a proper snowfall each winter in the SE.
The last few years have had proper snow but there have been plenty of years with a sprinkling at most.

And that happened in April for a couple of years.

I am currently in the south but agree with you.

Here we are over half way through February and I have only had to scrape my windscreen once all winter. Thats not right. Where as I dont ecpect lots of snow this far south I cannot ever remember a winter where I have not had to scrape my windsreen only once all winter.
