Seriously, I'm weirded out.

2 very light frosts the whole winter. Not cold enough to put the heating on hardly.

I don't remember a winter like this in 40 years.

Yes, the news stories are all about the terrible floods but I've heard nothing to explain why there's been no wintry weather.

cos its all over here. Looking at MORE snow falling as I type

Are you in the South, OP?

You've just been used to the winters since 2009 which were much colder than the winters for a good few years before that. This winter was more like pre-2009 ones.

OhYouBadBadKitten Wed 19-Feb-14 21:01:58

Because all of our weather has been in the form of mild westerlies, nothing really from the north or east.

We have used half the gas in this 12 month period (which included the very cold march last year)than we did in the previous 12 months. Sadly it's been off set by roof repairs.

It's not over yet ! Last year we had a ton of snow at the end of March!

Caitlin17 Wed 19-Feb-14 21:02:59

I agree I'm in Edinburgh and we've had nothing. My brother lives in rural Aberdeenshire and they've had nothing either.

LaurieFairyCake Wed 19-Feb-14 21:03:00

Yes, in the southeast.

It hasn't been like this ever. Has anyone got any stats or know where I can find them?

Procrastinating Wed 19-Feb-14 21:03:48

YANBU. It makes me feel in a bit of a panic. No idea why, just a general sense that something is wrong.

I remember miserable grey winters in the 80s, but never a non-winter like this.

HadABadDay2014 Wed 19-Feb-14 21:03:52

It been freezing in South Wales.

LaurieFairyCake Wed 19-Feb-14 21:05:03

That's it procrastinating, it feels like there is something actually wrong.

I feel unsettled.

Chivetalking Wed 19-Feb-14 21:05:58

I'm in the SE and agree that this winter has been similar to a run of winters pre-2009.

They were so mild I considered chucking out my snow boots.

I'm not weirded out though. I 'ates the snow...

SwishAndFlick Wed 19-Feb-14 21:07:32

Is there going to be snow this year? Feel really silly asking but can't ask anyone I know either..

Pigsmummy Wed 19-Feb-14 21:07:34

Its barely dropped 8 degrees for ages. I am going out without a coat or jacket, in FEBRUARY! It's not over yet though, had snow in march and April before.

MooncupGoddess Wed 19-Feb-14 21:08:15

It's been weird... usually even in the SE we get a proper snowfall once every winter, and quite a few frosts. It just feels Wrong.

I'm going to Lapland for a few days next week and am really excited about seeing some proper winter!

JupiterGentlefly Wed 19-Feb-14 21:10:08

HadaBadDay I am in South Wales too and I have only hadt to de-ice my car twice. I knew that we would have a mild winter as I bought in the sales last year.. Ice cleats. A sledge. Snowboots. Therefore it was destined to be snowless.
I did go camping last Easter (because it was Easter) -4.shock It would have been more pleasant from the whole of November to now than last Easter.

TheGreatHunt Wed 19-Feb-14 21:11:00

It has been cold but agree that I've hardly had the heating cranked up much (London).

I'm expecting a horrible summer of heat waves.

goinggreyagain Wed 19-Feb-14 21:11:00

We have all the snow and freezing cold here, so sick and tired of this hellish winter.

Basketofchocolate Wed 19-Feb-14 21:11:02

Seeing blossom on the tree down the road today freaked me out....

Blossom in February!!??

Hayfever in February?!?!?! Will cost a fortune in antihistamines if I start now. I am now questioning whether I have a cold that won't go away or if it is the start of hayfever....

Awks Wed 19-Feb-14 21:12:56

Well on the Yorkshire coast I've not had my bobble hat off since October. It's been cold but not as wintry as the last couple of years, thank goodness.

OhYouBadBadKitten Wed 19-Feb-14 21:13:12

This January was 2c above the mean jan central England temp. So far February is on course to be the same.

Gileswithachainsaw Wed 19-Feb-14 21:14:02

Yanbu. It's just not right. I'm seeing daisies and daffodils coming out. It's all very strange confused

OhYouBadBadKitten Wed 19-Feb-14 21:14:09

Swish, it looks very unlikely this season. As for the coming winter? Who knows!

Whatsthatnoise Wed 19-Feb-14 21:14:15

Its because back in October I finally admitted that I'm not a teenager anymore and bought a proper warm coat with a hood and everything. Its barely been cold since smile

sara1752 Wed 19-Feb-14 21:14:34

Weirded out here too
Keep saying to people that it's usually cold by now and they say it is cold
I mean really really cold im usually in gloves hat scarf the lot and still shivering but not this year

HauntedNoddyCar Wed 19-Feb-14 21:14:56

I don't think we do get a proper snowfall each winter in the SE.
The last few years have had proper snow but there have been plenty of years with a sprinkling at most.

And that happened in April for a couple of years.
