AIBU?

To put this sign in my window

There is (I am assuming its the same people) a group of people who seem to take pleasure in randomly banging loudly on peoples windows as they pass. (No front gardens).

It frightens the life out of me every time and they have just woken my 3 month old up, and i am shaking like a sh*ting dog. By the time i get up to have a look they're out of sight though.

WIBU to put a notice in the window reading "You ignorant cunts, i have a 3 month old baby, grow up and find an adult way to pass the time, you fucking wasters, i'm going to let my dog out next time and watch him rip your legs off"

I am fairly sure they are adults given the times (Aways late at night, Pub chuck out time?) and the voices i sometimes hear ("ya fuckin' nob'ed") sound like adult women.

(Note; My dog is not vicious and if i opened the door he would shit his pants and look at me as though to say "It's raining, sort it out yourself woman, i'm off for a kip", and i'm not really in the habit of doing that, I just don't understand the need for banging loudly on peoples windows).

At the risk of going OTT:

"Hi, 999? Yeah, someone's trying to break in to my house. I've got a 3month baby. Can you come along, please?"

MBT - TBH I havethought about it but they disappear so fast i don't even know what they look like. I wouldn't want to waste police time. The banging is so loud im nervous of sitting in my chair sometimes because i'm worried it will go through one day.

The first time it happened i assumed someone was in distress or something and ran out worried for whoever it was.

I wouldn't just in case it made them target you more, I'd probably be more inclined to put something on the window that'd make them think twice, maybe broken glass chilli paste?

Twats.

I cant wait to move. We only moved here because we were desperate. I hate it.

That's a good idea - get a sign saying you have CCTV camera. I'm sure you can print one off from the internet.

The camera idea is good can i add "Cunts" on the end?

I need to win the lottery or something and bugger off to the middle of no where. I'd be happy then!

I'd call 101 and tell the police it keeps happening around pub chucking put time. I'm sure they could arrange for a patrol to go past a few times and keep an eye on what's going on.

It's anti social behaviour after all.

101 call and chilli paste.... both are absolutely essential.

That sucks, Flock Sad

We moved in part to kids knocking on the window and upsetting DS. Camera might not be a bad plan.

What Rhonda said. We get it with kids from my
School. A regular patrol soon sent them off

I think i would contact the police and the surrounding pubs. Dont the pubs have a duty of care, if not they should.

Truthfully I think doing anything that will draw more negative attention to your house is daft.

Silvercatowner · 16/02/2014 10:22

Could you wire up the windows so they get an electric shock? Or something?

Topaz25 · 16/02/2014 10:41

Tempting as it is, that sort of sign would attract more attention. CCTV and beware of the dog signs might act as a deterrent. Definitely report the antisocial behaviour to the police.

Thats crap, I hope you are ok this morning. don't let them know about your life or that you are scared, bullies like that.Don't put up anything threatening, we were told you can't even put up 'beware of the dog' as you are admitting your dog is dangereousSad
I go with ring 101 and put up cctv for real!!! Do your neighbours have the same? could you get together with them?

That's really crap op, I would speak to the landlord to see if they can maybe put a sign up telling punters to leave quietly etc etc. I would also contact the police asking for the neighbourhood team. A nice Pcso will call round and see if there is anything they can do to help. It is anti social behaviour and they will be happy to help. especially if you make them a cup of tea Grin

Could you buy a fake cctv camera and stick inside of the window looking out.

My home in the UK has a big sticker saying Think twice - we have CCTV..... Do we bloody bollocks, the lights people can see in the upstairs bedroom window is an old mobile phone (think really old Nokia) it's light flashes on and off every few mins. Its blue tacked to the inside window frameand appears to be watching outside :)
We had probs with teens out the front of our house and the car had it rear window put through twice before I put my dodgy cam up and when we've been in the UK since then we've had no probs. PIL are staying there at the moment and they use it too.

Would you be able to rig up something like that and leave it switched on along with a CCTV sign in your window?

I very much doubt they'd read any sign you put up. Contact the police and explain the trouble you've been having on a regular basis and they will more than likely set up a patrol. You have my sympathies btw having lived a few doors down from a pub. We had wing mirrors deliberately damaged plants destroyed even had one of our cars broke into

If they are the types to bang on windows, then that note is only going to make them bang even more.

get a fake cctv camera, as others have said.

I love the idea of covering your windows in chilli paste. Imagine the BURN! Grin

It'd just be a right bugger to clean off.

But SO worth it that I'd come round and help you

If you inform the police they will also have a word with the Pub LL, rowdy customers is one thing that gets a serving licence hours cut down, so this can be effective.

Environmental Health, via your Council will do the same.

They will eventually put up cameras and the Zpub will be obliged to bar them.

I'm not proud of the fact that I have reacted to similar behaviour be letting my then, two German Shepherds out, they are scary and jump up but don't bite.

We had a house full if students who carried on in this manner, I accompanied my dogs with a hammer in my hand one night, it stopped.

Why anyone would think this is funny is beyond me, it could be an elderly or disabled person they are, in effect, targeting with bullying behaviour.

Just a thought but if it's a regular time, can you stand smearing your dogs shit on the window?

I have also found that dog shit makes an effective method of getting others to see your POV.

Yeah that.

I say smear something on the window. They won't know it was you, probably think some other cunt did it.

What about anti climb paint?
