AIBU?

to think it is impossible to have a lighthearted thread on Mumsnet anymore, even if it has the dreaded *lighthearted* in the title?

Cos I can't think of one for yonks.

The only ones that people claim to "spray tea over their screen at" all turn out to be silly attention seekers who don't know how to check their autocorrect before posting, or pervy singletons posting to get their sad little kicks.

Please someone show me a good humoured and amusing thread from anywhere on the general boards in the last three months.

OP posts:

Not really Grin

I love a good typo though, and when people muddle up their threads and post on the wrong one.

The thread asking about partners' strange habits really made me laugh.

Lighthearted just means don't shout at me, doesn't it?

Oh, I wish we could do away with lighthearted and also triggering . How does anyone cope with modern life if we have to put disclaimers on everything Confused.

I agree OP.
MN used to have lots of funny threads, now I struggle to find one.

You didn't like psycho platform woman? That thread was brilliant. Unless you actually are psycho platform woman.

I want people to put heavy-hearted in the titles but it hasn't caught on.

I tend to align (light hearted) with ' I'm not a racist but...' threads. There are plenty of funny threads on MN.

Who was psycho platform woman? I like that title even tho it should have said heavy hearted.

AgentZigzag · 15/02/2014 22:28

What you find funny isn't going to be what the next poster thinks is hilarious, and some of them you have to watch it develop and be pissed posting on it.

There was one recently about an au pair with her family in a chalet and hearing knocking noises at night. Some of the responses on that were very funny.

I did one about Gove and his plans to ban Christmas plays and reading time to make more learning time. Totally tounge in cheek as I said - but a few people thought it was libellous.

Actually - it's reality in some schools.

I don't blame OPs putting lighthearted in the title given how the OPs of some obviously lighthearted threads get panned Brennan, and 'triggering' is just politeness surely? (If it's on something about rape, self harm or suicide, if the thread was about cleaning the bog then yes, maybe it'd be a bit over dramatic.)

Are you being a bit lighthearted here, or not? I can't tell. It might have helped if you'd put "lighthearted" in the thread title. HTH.

Damn, can't link from tablet. Psycho platform woman was woman who quite loudly slagged off the Mumsnetter who stood on the platform behind her and her male friend as though she were a stalker while they waited for the train. Then laughed very loudly when she waited further down the platform next time she caught it. Some truly genius suggestions to bet back at psycho platform woman, was called 'WWYD? I am NOTa stalker. I'm just wait for my train!'
