to think it is impossible to have a lighthearted thread on Mumsnet anymore, even if it has the dreaded *lighthearted* in the title?

Cos I can't think of one for yonks.

The only ones that people claim to "spray tea over their screen at" all turn out to be silly attention seekers who don't know how to check their autocorrect before posting, or pervy singletons posting to get their sad little kicks.

Please someone show me a good humoured and amusing thread from anywhere on the general boards in the last three months.

hmm YABU

AgentZigzag Sat 15-Feb-14 22:22:15

Not really grin

I love a good typo though, and when people muddle up their threads and post on the wrong one.

JohnFarleysRuskin Sat 15-Feb-14 22:22:27

This one is going to be funny. You are going to pysl?

FishCalledWonder Sat 15-Feb-14 22:22:45

The thread asking about partners' strange habits really made me laugh.

JohnFarleysRuskin Sat 15-Feb-14 22:23:12

Lighthearted just means don't shout at me, doesn't it?

southeastastra Sat 15-Feb-14 22:23:34

nah it's same as it always was

southeastastra Sat 15-Feb-14 22:23:54

or maybe i just post when pissed

Piscivorus Sat 15-Feb-14 22:24:04

No idea. I just popped in to check if this really was an AIBU or if you were in the wrong topic grin

Oh, I wish we could do away with * lighthearted * and also * triggering *. How does anyone cope with modern life if we have to put disclaimers on everything confused.

MoonlightandRoses Sat 15-Feb-14 22:24:51

Well, obviously it is OP. [Huffs]

LadyBeagleEyes Sat 15-Feb-14 22:25:02

I agree OP.
MN used to have lots of funny threads, now I struggle to find one.

Sparkletshirt Sat 15-Feb-14 22:26:11

You didn't like psycho platform woman? That thread was brilliant. Unless you actually are psycho platform woman.

JohnFarleysRuskin Sat 15-Feb-14 22:27:07

I want people to put heavy-hearted in the titles but it hasn't caught on.

southeastastra Sat 15-Feb-14 22:27:32

<hugzz for minty>

Monetbyhimself Sat 15-Feb-14 22:28:03

I tend to align (light hearted) with ' I'm not a racist but...' threads. There are plenty of funny threads on MN.

JohnFarleysRuskin Sat 15-Feb-14 22:28:11

Who was psycho platform woman? I like that title even tho it should have said heavy hearted.

AgentZigzag Sat 15-Feb-14 22:28:11

What you find funny isn't going to be what the next poster thinks is hilarious, and some of them you have to watch it develop and be pissed posting on it.

Coconutty Sat 15-Feb-14 22:28:34

There was one recently about an au pair with her family in a chalet and hearing knocking noises at night. Some of the responses on that were very funny.

HollyMiamiFLA Sat 15-Feb-14 22:30:10

I did one about Gove and his plans to ban Christmas plays and reading time to make more learning time. Totally tounge in cheek as I said - but a few people thought it was libellous.

Actually - it's reality in some schools.

AgentZigzag Sat 15-Feb-14 22:32:12

I don't blame OPs putting lighthearted in the title given how the OPs of some obviously lighthearted threads get panned Brennan, and 'triggering' is just politeness surely? (If it's on something about rape, self harm or suicide, if the thread was about cleaning the bog then yes, maybe it'd be a bit over dramatic.)

puntasticusername Sat 15-Feb-14 22:35:14

<stares hard>

Are you being a bit lighthearted here, or not? I can't tell. It might have helped if you'd put "lighthearted" in the thread title. HTH.

Sparkletshirt Sat 15-Feb-14 22:36:06

Damn, can't link from tablet. Psycho platform woman was woman who quite loudly slagged off the Mumsnetter who stood on the platform behind her and her male friend as though she were a stalker while they waited for the train. Then laughed very loudly when she waited further down the platform next time she caught it. Some truly genius suggestions to bet back at psycho platform woman, was called 'WWYD? I am NOTa stalker. I'm just wait for my train!'
