The up tenth message from the same person on facebook. Followed by a rant that miserable single people shouldn't ruin it for loved up couples as it's not their day to ruin. It's not commercialism but a day for real loveeeeeeeeee.

I feel I can slightly breath now I have logged in to Mumsnet. haha

Have the opposite here. One going on about how valentines day is a big pile of toosh, a money grabbing corporate affair, shouldn't have a designated day of year to show love, anti-valentines blah blah blah [insert rest of massively long FB status about how shit and over-rated Valentines day is].

Less than 1 minute later....

"OMAGAWD Look at this huge hamper of gifts DP had delivered straight to work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How romantic nd surprising I just LOVE valentines day and he is taking me out to [super expensive restaurant] after work LOLOL I am so in love. Totes gloating at all you miserable singleton valentines hater right now".

She then proceeded to post 10 or so over edited, vignette plastered photos of said hamper - crappy balloon included - taken at different angles at her desk.

Copied exactly (restaurant removed for privacy).

I knew this was going to be a FB thread Grin

DH and I were just in Lidl and the man in front of us (wearing a wedding ring) had two rose bouquets, one £3 and one £5
DH whispered to me.....'do you think he's giving both to his wife or one to his wife and one to his girlfriend....if so which one gets the dearer bouquet?' Grin

DH and I sent each other text messages that said happy valentines day in between bickering about who is picking the kids up from school

I would be very surprised if I got anything from DH (this us the guy who said the 1st year together ' you don't expect two cards in one week do you!' As it's my birthday a few days later)

BUT he is on leave this week, and has got up at 6 every morning to take me to work, as I was nervous to drive through the floods and gales and then comes and picks me up again after.

Not one for show but one for deeds

I've never seen anything in real life that people post on here...

I worry about the friends you have Confused

Just remove them?

My Facebook feed is occasional photos of roses, with the person tagged in a thank you, and moaning about the weather... I posted a picture of my 3 year old holding a card she got from nursery. Very cute Smile

I made my kids waffles with chocolate spread, and arranged little mini marshmallows in the shapes of love hearts on them.

I win.

I haven't had any overly gloating ones but lots of photos of roses and declarations of undying love for other halfs. My other half has decided to work overtime tonight and go in tomorrow then we spent the day bickering as I've decided to go away for the weekend with DS as he is busy. Happy Valentines day! Wink

This!

I did delete someone for posting endless "making shepherds pie with onions for my 'Pwincess" "having a cuppa with my lufly hubby" type bollocks, but apart from that, the odd photo of a child doing something cute and a bit of moaning about the weather is about as exciting as it gets.

I have to get my thrills from the local FB selling pages, some of the ding dongs on there are pure gold

I got a lovely bouquet from DP. However...

...I really want to say that chocolates and hearts and roses do not, as far as I am concerned represent anything about love. They are are pale token representation. I've spent a lot of time in hospital recently, visiting dP who has been extremely ill. Last week he was in theatre for a long time so I walked the very long corridors waiting for him to return. For me, true love is in those hospital corridors on the faces of the relatives of those who are poorly. There was an elderly man on DP's ward who missed his wife so much. When she visited he told her as much. They sat opposite one another just holding hands. That is love.
