AIBU?

aibu to want my bastard mattress topper to stay on my bloody bed?

Just that really. The fucking thing slides off about half a foot (scientific measuring Grin) every sodding night. Ach, I just want to make the bed and be able to get in the cunting thing and not have to do the equivalent of an alligator wrestle with it of an evening. Humph. Dp's not back till later and it's hanging off the end of the bed.

Is there a grippy in between layer I can buy? Or should I just glue the fucker in place?

Or elastic attached to it, passing under the mattress and then attach to the other side?

Some sort of foot board attached to the end of the bed?

Buy a new mattress?
The best mattress I've ever had is the one I have now which is a £300 memory foam job from Dreams.
I know most of us can't drop £300 like that but it might be worth thinking about.

Does it not have elastic strips on the corners to hold it in place?

You need something similar to these .I have them for our duvet and have had fantastic nights sleeps due to the duvet staying put.

The clips are duvet specific I think so maybe would need something a bit heftier but its worth a go at making your own. All you need is a 5 foot length of wide elastic and a means of attaching the elastic to the topper and bingo ! Job done and no wrestling.

How Very Annoying

I had this with the mattress protector and fitted sheets, I sewed elastic strips end to end about half foot in from the outer corners - bit of a pain but worked a treat.

You have my sympathy - there is truly nothing more fucking annoying.

Well there are some helpful and excellent suggestions here, as well as the downright ridiculous....

Sewing on elastic garters may help, I shall attempt that and report back. Thank you to those clever posters who suggested it. I was genuinely expecting there to be some kind of non-slip fabric that everyone has that goes between the two that I just didn't know about Blush

I bought the bed recently from our local community furniture place, it's actually twin beds that are side by side, and the topper is an ikea superking, but it's slightly too long - by a few inches Blush the mattresses are like glass - all shiny and surfacy. I can't buy a new bed cos I spent all my money on this bugger.

Ikea does an inexpensive non-slip thing to prevent rugs from sliding on laminate floors. I think it's called Stopp. That might do the trick?

Deep fitted sheets, that is sheets that fit over both the topper and the mattress.

Very and Next do them, some Tescos too.

Works for us.

ooh Happy with the helpful suggestions on here as my mattress topper keeps curling up at the corners and I wrestle daily to contain it under a fitted sheet !

Report
Catsmamma · 14/02/2014 17:43

can you put a sheet under the topper as well....flannelette might be grippy enough to stop it.

Happens to me too. Angry

Doesn't help that the topper is actually a touch bigger than the bed!
