to point out a grammatical error?

A friend of a friend makes gifts, really pretty, i've ordered a few myself.

I've noticed she is selling some handmade Mother's Day items but grammatically incorrect:

"Nanna's like you are precious and few"

And

"Mum's hold our hands for a short time, but our hearts forever"

Now a random FB status update etc I'd not comment, but these are products she intends to sell at £5 a pop.

Wwyd?

Oh and I would PM, not comment on the FB wall

Yes, nice"hope you don't mind" style message will probably help her as long as she's not the type to take offence!

greenhill Thu 13-Feb-14 18:06:47

Be kind. Let her know before she makes any more and can correct ones she has already done.

Nomama Thu 13-Feb-14 18:07:23

Send me a link.... it's my job to correct such things smile

exexpat Thu 13-Feb-14 18:07:26

I would, but I am a bit of a pedant.

Are the things she is selling made-to-order, or would she already have a stock of the ones with rogue apostrophes?

Bookaholic Thu 13-Feb-14 18:07:27

It pitch it as a typo not an error as such, but yes, definitely point it out to her.

JoinYourPlayfellows Thu 13-Feb-14 18:07:50

Yes, you need to tell her.

MyNameIsKenAdams Thu 13-Feb-14 18:09:03

Ok. Will summon up the courage! She hand makes - the bits with the words on are decoupaged (sp?)

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

MyNameIsKenAdams Thu 13-Feb-14 18:10:25

Ok.....no-one else say anything, I don't want the poor woman getting thirty PMs about it grin

Beanymonster Thu 13-Feb-14 18:10:49

Do let us know the outcome, I've been thinking of politely informing some of the 'homemade' sellers on my fb for a while about grammar and spelling problems :/

SumBex Thu 13-Feb-14 18:13:19

On the christening heart she's written 'you're' instead of 'your'.

Hmm, I'd have to tell her. She could lose custom otherwise.

MyNameIsKenAdams Thu 13-Feb-14 18:21:31

I haven't looked back at her old stuff, this just caught my eye.

Really hope she doesn't take offence!

MyNameIsKenAdams Thu 13-Feb-14 18:22:04

Hi XXXXX, love the new Mother's Day hearts! Really hope you don't think I'm a total pain but the little ones for Mams and Nannas have rougue apostrophes in, which aren't supposed to be there. Sorry to be a total pain, just incase anyone who buys them notices they may ask for them to be re-made. Hope it's ok to let you know :$ KenAdams xx

MyNameIsKenAdams Thu 13-Feb-14 18:24:58

Phew, just got a quick "Thanks, no worries, I'll sort it"

And relax.

I love her stuff! Just can't help but notice stuff like this.

CommanderShepard Thu 13-Feb-14 18:29:57

Rogue, not rougue - that'd be embarrassing!

Scholes34 Thu 13-Feb-14 18:36:56

Nice way to plug a business!

MyNameIsKenAdams Thu 13-Feb-14 18:37:29

Well that wasn't my intention.

Nanny0gg Thu 13-Feb-14 18:38:02

Nomama You wouldn't like to contact my former school would you?

They've got a doozy on their website. I'd do it but it's a bit awkward...

SumBex Thu 13-Feb-14 18:40:59

There's a printing company near me that will print 'stationary'. I don't much about the process but I'm assuming it involved some kind of movement hmmgrin.

SumBex Thu 13-Feb-14 18:43:19

*know

VegetariansTasteLikeChicken Thu 13-Feb-14 18:45:30

YANBU, but get this thread zapped, you shouldnt have linked to a friends page

NewtRipley Thu 13-Feb-14 18:48:13

This is not "bit of a pedant" territory; it's important

Glad it went well.

MyNameIsKenAdams Thu 13-Feb-14 18:51:23

Ill get the link removed.

She isnt a friend, she is a friend of a friend.
