which has started pooing in our garden and has today left a dead mouse on the doorstep ?
Not sure what I expect them to do about it to be honest but I have young children and don't want to have to clean up someone elses cat poo or dead creatures everytime we go outside..

However, did you see the criminal in question crap in your garden and leave you the mouse.....in his favour he thinks he is bringing you a gift, maybe to apologise for crapping in your garden!

Buy a water pistol and nail the devil every time you spot it in the garden. A nerf super soaker is best.

Neighbours used to do the same to our cat. It's harmless, but very discouraging for the feline in question and good practice for the zombie plague.

Sweet that it's brought you a mouse, yukky though it might seem it is a present for you.
This cat wants to be your friend.
However, poo is not so nice! The water pistol is a good idea, kitty won't like it but it will do no harm.

Don't be like my neighbour who had a humane trap, and has been trapping and -possibly drowning-- neighbourhood cats, including two of men, and only was caught because my third cat miaowed so loud we found her :(

Be thankful it didn't bring a live mouse in to your house and set it free!! Mine do this all the time.
Mine also don't poop in anyone's garden because I have a litter tray by the back door and they prefer to use that (lazy buggers).
So win win for the neighbours ;-)

My cat pissed all over my bathroom yesterday and then emptied the rest on the bedroom carpet. Live safe in the knowledge that it's probably doing much worse in its own house

Our neighbours all have cats and we have a dog. I wouldn't dare ask but when I'm removing cat poo from the pots outside my front door where the cats have also dug up the bulbs and destroyed the plants I really can see no reason why the owners shouldn't be obliged to clear up after the cats and make good the damage they have caused.

Yes, thats what I was thinking , that I might ask them to clean it up . Although they are nice and we get on fine , I'm pretty sure they would have something to say if the situation were reversed.

If I had neighbours close enough and my cats were going to their garden to shit I would buy them a high pressure hose, chemicals to put them off and failing that, I guess I would try to keep them in until every day they had done their poo inside. I have 6 currently who rarely leave the garden and if they did, they don't go far. How do I know? Just mell the breath of my 11 dogs.

Yanbu. There is no reason why the owners couldn't clear up the mess their pet makes and they shock also pay for deterrents for you to use if they aren't prepared to keep their cat indoors.

see I wonder where you all live? I live in a big village 10 mikes from a huge city.

in our garden we get foxes, badgers and the occasional dog. these all poo in our garden in a regular basis.

the rain usually washes it away but as we are all outdoors people and my children walked everywhere we weren't afraid of getting a but dirty or the odd poo.

I can't understand how your gardens are so prim that you actually see cat poo.

I'd encourage you to be more tolerant. Cats roam, it's just the way it is.

I have neighbours with children who play noisily. This isn't exactly music to my ears, but of course I tolerate it because: children can be noisy, it's just the way it is.

If we were all only prepared to tolerate from others exactly what they tolerate from us, we'd be in a lot of trouble!

Good luck op. Our neighbours have 5 cats and a tiny garden. Guess where they all shit? We tried the talk (got nowhere) started spraying the cats with a hose (which totally works) but then lead to our neighbours doing a 'watch' on us from their windows, screaming abuse/threats and racist language (including at our 4 and 8 yr olds) which developed into me having to call the police twice (who did bugger all - she denied all of it and we had no proof). We are now planning on moving house...
