AIBU?

To wish DH had said I looked nice

Big important family party today and I had new clothes. We took lots of photos though I haven't seen them yet. I am definitely tired and probably a bit emotional but am I being unreasonable to end the day feeling a little sad that DH didn't say anything about me looking smart/nice etc? (Might add that I am 12 weeks postnatal and not quite back in my normal clothes). Would you hope for some sort of compliment on a big day? Would you hope for one, sort of out of politeness, even if maybe you didn't actually look great or had chosen a slightly unflattering outfit for example?

You looked beautiful, my love. Just treat in your own radiant self. Men are daft like that. Have a hug.

Oh sweetheart (un mnetty i know) i bet you looked lovely.

He absolutely should have said that you looked beautiful.

My DP is the same - never bothered. I told him i was hurt and now he always comments.

i would seriously hope for a compliment im lucky ive a 13 year old daughter who says wow mom you look nice followed by my 5 year old saying love you mommy your bootiful (he has to top her) THEN my husband chimes in!

men dont think like women you need a compliment (always) especially after you have children perhaps he thought you looked so good and confident that you really didnt need one?

im sure you looked great x

Some men just don't say these things.

My dh never used to say anything about how I looked, until one day my BIL told me I looked really nice. I mentioned this to dh and at the same time pointed out that he himself had never paid me a compliment, but his own brother just had. His response (bless him) was ''but you always look perfect''.

He always makes a point of complimenting me now.

Mine didn't, even on our wedding day! Just as well he has some redeeming features Hmm
But I have a lovely ds who tells me whenever he likes my top etc, and calls me beautiful mummy. Will make sure he treats his future partner like this!
I think there's a moment when someone is standing in front of a mirror checking their outfit, when it would be very very normal to say "you look good" so yanbu.

My DH often doesnt comment either - I hAve to do something pretty drastic with my hair (very rare!) For him to notice. He is also colour blind so often misses colour change - on the plus, side I could spend a fortune on my hair and he would never notice! But DS1 aged 16 always notices and comments - I shall miss him so much when he leaves home:-(

Yes, make sure you train your dc up. My dh doesn't tend to ever say anything, but it's lovely when ds, or dd2 in particular see me (if I've had my haircut or am wearing something new, or just dressed up a bit) and both of them will say something nice. Sadly dd1 is more like her Dad.
