I live on a 30 mph limit road. There are schools close by. I saw a van going at around 50-60 mph along the road this morning at around 8 am-I could have easily pulled out in front of it and been hit if I hadn't been as alert as I was. Should I email the company or does that make me even more of a mean spirited, grumpy old bastard than I already am?

YANBU. If it was a mile or two over the limit then I would say don't report but 50/60 mph is outrageous on a 30 mph road. If the police had spotted the vehicle it would have been an automatic disqualification for the driver (then a lost job etc!)

I'm guessing it was a lot less speed than you actually think, no harm was done, the driver was most probably fully aware of his surroundings, I'd leave it.

I'd report it. Hopefully they will have a word with him, remind him that speed limits are there for a reason and he'll slow down before he kills or injures someone (or loses his licence and livelihood for having too many points)

I saw a horrid van driver tailgating a small car one evening on my way home, there were no numbers, only a name on the van, and I couldn't find the company online, or i'd have rung and reported the little shite driver

Report. Also report to VOSA if it's a big fleet like DPD, Yodel etc. The vehicles are tracked and causing or permitting their drivers to speed is an offence.

I did this a few years ago. I was tail-gated REALLY badly at speed by a van along a lengthy exit lane on the motorway. There was a lot of traffic in front of me so I was not dawdling or blocking a free stretch of road and there was nowhere to move to.

I very carefully used my handsfree to call my home answerphone and I recorded the name of the company and the last few letters/digits of the licence plate.

When I got home I called the company to complain and they immediately asked if I could describe the driver's appearance. I said he was older with longish hair and a big grey beard (he'd been so close!) and they said 'Oh that's Joe, we've had this problem with him before and will tell his manager."!!

I nearly called another company just this week when a van almost mowed me down on a zebra crossing.

So do call or email, normalish, as the companies should know how dangerously their staff are driving and how badly they are representing them.

The van will then be on anpr and will be pulled by the police.
I had to report some knob at the weekend for nearly hitting us twice in the space of 10mins.
He got a fixed penalty notice and a good talking to from the police!

Absolutely let them know . Quite apart from the fact that he's breaking the law and endangering other road users , it's not a great advert for the firm. If there's a problem with the road and lots of vehicles doing it , it's worth making a complaint to the roads policing unit as they will task one of the traffic cars with going out there with a camera. They did in our village , and then emailed us the number of people who were well over the limit , which in our case is a 40mph , but gets broken by everyone and biscuit, tractors and all .

Of course it turned out that nearly a third of the worst offenders turned out to be residents ....

Definitely do it! There are a lot of shit drivers out there, and the only hope that they will ever stop is if people keep on pulling them up on it. If they think they are getting away with it they will keep behaving like idiots.

Me and ds1 were following a van one day and he was all over the road. He nearly hit an oncoming vehicle. We videoed him on my phone then phoned his company and reported. He must have been texting or drunk or something

yanbu i phoned a taxi firm when the driver was rude and wouldnt move his car so i could get mine out , also a coach driver when he did a wanker sign after he undercut me and pulled out in front .

A car near me was doing 60mph in a 30 zone. Plowed into a dad and two little girls. They are lucky to be alive. Please report it, next time he could kill someone.
