AIBU?

To want to chop my head off?

I have sinusitis. I have a carefully worked out regime of Solpa-Sinus (paracetamol plus decongestant), Nurofen Plus (ibuprofen plus codeine) and Beconase (steroid nasal spray). As long as I keep eating all the drugs my headache is under control more or less, my sinuses are not terribly sore, my ears are doing okay but all of my top teeth are KILLING me. My gums actually feel hot with it. And moving my jaw hurts. I dread to think what I'd be like if I wasn't popping pain relief like Smarties.

Dr Google informs me that there's really no need to go to the doctor unless I start running a temperature or vomiting, and since it's probably not bacterial he can't do much anyway, but I'm really not happy with the pain.

WIBU to chop my head off?

would it not make a terrible mess of the carpet?

We have wooden floors downstairs. Or I could do it in the bath, that would contain the mess and be easy to clean out afterwards.

Wouldn't pulling the top teeth out do the same job quicker and easier?

I have a reasonably sharp carving knife that should do most of the cutting, but I'm not sure about the actual spinal column. I'm thinking a saw for that? I'll have to brave the shed for one though, I don't think DS's Bob the Builder one is going to hack it.

yy to just doing the teeth, in the bath option.

Mnetters are so helpful. Warms yer cockles, don't it?! Grin

Removing the teeth would help but wouldn't resolve the underlying sinus issue. If I decapitate myself, I don't have to worry about it at all.

I am going to ask a really thick question, feel free to point and laugh:

have you had it diagnosed, or have you self-diagnosed? I would be inclined to see dentist to rule out abscess/caries pdq

secondly, have you tried rinsing your sinuses with warmish water? some folk here have had great success with a netti pot <a class="break-all" href="//www.amazon.co.uk/Yoga-Mad-NoseBuddy-Yoga-Mad-Nosebuddy/dp/B004QL7C8C/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1391180647&sr=8-2&keywords=neti-pot&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21" rel="nofollow noindex" target="_blank">this kind of thing

When my sinuses bother me, I always think if I could just drill a hole in my face, it would relieve the pressure...

I've found a neti pot and Mucinex D help A LOT. I get sinus infections several times a year. :(

On House he stick something pointy up the person's nose and all the pus and goo fell out. You'd probably need to Google it.

Self-diagnosis all the way! It's very obviously sinusitis because when I don't take pain relief, my sinuses, head, ears and eyes also hurt like hell.

DH is going to procure me a netti pot on the way home from work.

Also, the pain is in every single one of 15 top teeth. That would have to be a hell of an abscess!

Instead of chopping your head off in the bath, can't you just run yourself a hot bath? The hot steam really helps me when I'm in your situation.

I have chronic sinusitis and seeing ENT.

I often daydream about sticking a screwdriver in sinus and attatching some hose device to relieve the pain Grin

Ill chop yours if you chop mine?

ChestyNut, absolutely. You poor thing, this is the first time I've had it, it's rotten. I can't imagine being stuck with it long-term.

Wabbitty, I tried a hot shower earlier but it didn't do anything. I'm afraid the gunge is too solid to come out.
