AIBU?

to ask for a Hitachi Magic Wand as birthday present from my partner?

I've heard the most wonderful things about the Hitachi Magic Wand and I'd love to have one but should I buy it myself or suggest it to my partner as a birthday present?

I wouldn't want to make him him feel he isn't 'enough' by making the request, because he's very good in bed actually.

Would I be being unreasonable?

Have you discussed sex toys before? Is he generally open-minded or uptight? This should give you an idea how he might react. The Hitachi Magic Wand doesn't look like a penis so he might not find it as threatening as some other sex toys. Maybe you could incorporate it into your lovemaking. But if you think it will upset him just buy it yourself.

Maybe just mention you heard good things about it and see how he reacts before breaking the subject of him buying it.

I'm just warning you now that the damn things can do some serious damage to your bits. DH bought me one and now its used as a back massager.

Er....unless you are buying it as a back massager and in that case pretend you didn't read the above Grin

I asked my DH to buy me a vibrator once, he did but wasn't happy. I was shocked when it arrived as I was half joking.. I threw it away and never used it once out of respect for him as he really felt shit about it.

We have one, really noisy (I wouldn't switch it on again if DD is in the house) and far too intense to be used as a sex toy so it's never been out of the case since.

I have a love honey version which my dp loves to see me use and loves being used on him but the only way you are going to know how your do will feel about it is to ask him.

As the others have said, make sure that he's ok with sex toys first.

If so, then like thecapitals above I also have the Lovehoney version. I think it's a lot better than the Hitachi one as there's a wheel that you can scroll up and down to increase or decrease the vibrations.

Also, I found it a lot better with plenty of lube

I've got one. They're great! If you don't feel comfortable asking your partner just get one yourself on Amazon...

WE have one. It's great :o DP bought US it, and that's the difference. It was mutual. He loves me using it, I like teasing him with it. Such fun. They are powerful but you can turn them down.

OMG I saw the name Hitchati and thought it was a new power tool. I even got a bit excited.

The confusing and almost alarming thing is...I'm disappointed you're all talking about a sex toy.

Before reading the thread I thought Hitachi was some Japanese/Chinese kids cartoon and OP wanted a model of a magic wand from the programme and was asking whether that was weird or not Grin

I have the Bodywand. I love mine but I do have a large toy collection. I wouldn't buy it as my first one.

Buy an AcuVibe instead, it can be used cordless and holds a decent charge. IMO they have the same power when attached to the mains but the AcuVibe can be a bit less intense when detached from the cord.

The cord on the Hitachi is very short, so it's awkward to get a good position. It was way too intense for me at first but you can get used to it. I have to say the first time I used it, I didn't think it would work at all but it took about 30 seconds and I was wearing all my clothes (too intense at first on sensitive bits, try over underwear or, err, tight jeans...)

Farrow I thought it might be a Harry Potter inspired tv remote Grin I got all excited!

I'd probably buy it for myself, rather than ask for it as a gift.
