We are on a meter and pay 6 monthly. Our bills tend to be in the region of £200 to £250 six monthly. This sounds really expensive. We are a family of 5 btw.
Just wondered what others pay and how many people are in the household.
Thank you

200 quarterly. For a family of three who shower instead of bath. I might contact the water company to make sure this is right Confused

£26 per month for 2 of us by direct debit.

We pay around £53 a month. 3 of us in the house, except when student DS1 is at home, which is only a few weeks a year. Currently in credit, but only just. We do have baths rather than showers, but I share bathwater with DS2.

I pay £28 a month over either 10 or 11 months.

Ours isn't metered though

I'm on the water sure scheme so my bill is capped at the cost of an average bill (£410 per year), but the water meter shows that we actually used £950 worth of water in the last 12 months.

Direct debit of £175 per month, for 7 adults. Obviously 7 very clean adults with very clean clothes.

How big is your house?

Family of 5, Thames Water, and we are metered. It is £18 per month, which is lower than anyone else I've ever come across, but it has been that for 3 years now. They read our meter every 6 months, so it is based on actual readings. Either we are scummy buggers and I haven't noticed, or there is something odd going on. I do 1 or 2 loads of laundry a day, we have a dishwasher, DH and I shower every day and the children have a bath every other day.

Can't understand it, but I've phoned TW twice and they insist it is correct Hmm

Family of 6 + 1 lodger and we pay £37 per month. I'm not sure if we're on a meter or not.

Rates and around £175pm. SWW. Ridiculous, but 3 under 5s and two adults. I think I had better not switch to a meter.

Christ. £600 per year for 4 (including 2 toddlers who bath together)! Bloody Severn Trent.

It does seem rather a lot doesn't it - will be interesting to see if anyone others with large families have similar bills. House not that big - one main bathroom, two en-suites (with bath/shower), and one WC. Two loads in the dishwasher every day, plus the washing machine pretty much constantly on. Use water butts for the garden, and top up the pond from time to time.

Family of five - one bath, two showers, three toilets, washing machine, dishwasher, occasional paddling pool in the summer, two fish tanks, water butt for the garden (always over flowing). We pay about £350 a year and are on a meter.

Just dug out the last bill - we were £20 in debt on a 6 monthly bill, which implies it should be nearer £21 a month, but that is still very very low...

Family of 3. Not on water meter. £34.30 per month. Billing period is only April to Nov so total for the year on water rates is £308.70

£60 per month. No meter. Dread to think what it would be if we were metered. 2 adults - 3 kids.

So where you live obviously has a bearing on it. We pay £39 per month not metered.

Do I take it from your username that you're in Yorkshire? We don't have a meter and pay £45 a month for 10 months, 2 adults & 2 kids. Starting to think we might be better off with a meter Hmm

I thought ours was a lot but judging from most of you on here it's a bargain. We're on a meter – family of four, use the dishwasher every day and washing machine on a lot.

The last six months was £180 but we had months of building work and they were constantly using the water to mix cement and plaster, hose things down etc. I think previously we paid £140 for six months.

£437.27 for the year - £54.66 x 8 monthly payments

There are 5 of us living in a 4 storey Victorian house. We are not on a meter fortunately . There is a lot of washing done and a lot of people spending ages in the shower.
