I quite like her in big brother in an aloof distant way

I haven't watched it because it makes me cringe too much. I'm surprised to hear that she's even a real person let alone likeable.

I've always quite liked her. She's very good at what she does. When she used to have a column in the Daily Fail, my Mum used to read them out to me...she was with that husband of hers and I emailed her to tell her she should leave him and she emailed me a long message back and was ever so nice...she said she knew she should but just couldn't....she must have got so many mails from people...but still replied.

AwfulMaureen She sent me an email once as well! I'd complained about one of her pet peeves giving an opposing point of view. She replied with the most lovely email.

I preferred her when I was just reading her articles. She comes across as such a troubled person, that I would imagine spending time with her in rl would suck the life out of you.

Taz and I think the tone of those emails and the fact that she replies to people says an awful lot about her really. Smile

I think she is self obsessed and has so many issues to mention that bb thread lot ( i love them really) like her I just can't see it myself I didnt know who she was before she went in

I can't warm to someone who's published personal stuff about her family [including photos of her very sick mother without her consent], and about people who don't have a media platform to defend themselves such as her sister Sue, her current boyfriends ex and various others over the years.
I was pleased that the PCC ruled in favour of the owner of a horse, I believe, she was stabling learning about its death in her diary column.
Whenever I start to feel sorry for her I also remember the pretty awful article she wrote about Jo Yeates...

She is interesting.

I'm not sure whether I like her or not. On the one hand she comes across as normal, animal lover etc. on the other hand she writes about her designer clothing habit and then how much debt she's in and I wonder if the reader is supposed to pity her?!

I did think her party photo here was hilarious regardless of what she was up to.

Jennysense how do you know she published a photo of her very sick mother without her consent?!

Her mother was 93 with alzheimers - how could she give permission?
I think the photo was subsequently removed from the online edition.

She published a photo of her mother lying in bed, looking unconscious. Her family was outraged and she had to take the photo down. She just use to mildly annoy me until: the infamous Jo Yeates piece. That was just so horrible. Then her ridiculous appearances on This Morning talking about stealing sperm and how she wanted to warn the mothers of young men about it because it was 'what young women were capable of' or something like that. Then she was vicious about Clare Balding and Holly Willoughby. On CBB she was asking for Illy coffee to be put on the shopping list, Luisa said there was only instant on there and Liz Jones called her 'you stupid fucking woman' (it might have been 'you fucking stupid woman'). I was a bit taken aback because she always says in her articles that she never swears.

Liz, Jan Moir, Melanie Phillips et al....their days are gone. We have Katie Hopkins to hate now.

I have definitely warmed to her too and I thought her depressed monologue to Luisa who was trying to make her laugh to win a secret mission was genius!

I don't normally watch CBB but did a bit because LJ was on. I do find her quite compelling, but it's because she makes you feel so together by comparison. I feel a sort of horrified pity.

That said, Reg, I mightn't be entirely nice myself if I was told I could only have instant coffee instead of proper stuff. I cannot understand why people are willing to go into Big Brother house. The helplessness, the inability to get away from other people, the lack of stuff to do. Aaaagh!

I can't stand Liz Jones. I haven't watched big brother, but I wonder how warm you'd feel about her after reading any of her 'work'. Somebody has already mentioned the piece she wrote about Jo Yeates, and the selling out of her mother (the same mother she threw out for leaving wheel tracks on her wooden floor, and the same mother whose dementia she welcomed as it meant her real age would not be revealed).

There's also this, which made me incredibly angry for those who actually have mobility problems, not just convenient deafness. She's just a nasty selfish cow, IMO

mrsjay you know you want to like her along with us lot really Grin

I have warmed to her lot, I can't say that I think she's wonderful or anything like that but in the house I think she has come across very well. I like her a lot more than I did before she went in.

Blimey there's a thread title I never thought I'd see on mn!GrinWink

I think she is very definitely one of those writers in the media who say anything for the sake of controversy. Katie Hopkins is another. They are merely paid to stir things up; I don't think they actually do believe half of what they say in public or actually are the same in rl.

I must admit that all the other weird and nasty stuff LJ writes aside, when she writes about fashion I think she's pretty good. If only she would stick to that really.

Haven't watched BB. I'm astonished she agreed to it thoughShock

scented she's written about not getting to do a reality show before which she'd signed up for to pay her debts off, so I'm thinking it's for the money - which I can't say I'm surprised. A few weeks back she was writing she was debt free again...

Report
ScentedScandal · 22/01/2014 12:15

I cant understand her debt problems. One minute she's not got a bean but it never seems to affect her lifestyle one iotaConfused I'm suspect it's all made upHmm.
