AIBU re: the washing up? (Trivial and lighthearted)

One if my pet peeves is the way DH does the 'washing up'.

He piles all the dirty dishes and pans in the sink, squirts washing up liquid into the boil, runs boiling water over them and leaves them to 'soak'. But this soaking normally takes hours ie: he forgets about them.

He thinks my method of washing up is annoying. I put all the dirty plates etc on the counter, fill an empty bowl with water/washing up liquid and wash things individually then and there.

If pans need to soak (very rarely if we don't have scourers in) then I leave them after I had finished be dishes.

Another thing that pisses me off is he doesn't clean the drainer or sink when he cleans the kitchen.

I know it's minor moan and I'm bloody grateful he uncomplainingly does housework (we both work full time) but still, makes me want to tweeze his nostril hairs out one by one very slooooowly...

He's hoping if he does it crappily enough you'll step and say "for Christ's sake let me do it!"

I do this! I leave everything to soak and wash (easily) /rinse about an hour later! Sorry OP!!

I'd do it like you. But then we now have a dishwasher and I would never be without one!

I run water to the point you can't hold your hand under it, then squeeze the soap onto the sponge (wet it before hand) the wash it like that and rinse it off mostly burning my hands, without filling the sink up/plug in. Can not bare the thought of dirty food floating around in the sink touching me or my basically clean plates. Blush

However my DP leaves it like your DP

I could have written your post word for word! Every issue you have, I have too!

I have to leave the kitchen when DH washes up because seeing his method makes me want to pull my teeth out! Grin

As for them 'soaking' - that's just another way of them demonstrating their laziness. It drives me insane!
