To think the Sainsbury's offer for loyal shoppers is poor

Spend £70 or more between blah and 9th Nov and you get a voucher. Each online delivery we got a 4 more shops, 3 more etc. Tantalising!

Did our 5th shop last week but only remembered this week we should have got a voucher. Phoned up and the voucher was... free delivery worth £5.99!

When Tesco is offering £5 off a £40 shop when you spend £40 and Morrisons is offering £25 or £40 off your Christmas shop if you collect tokens over the weeks AIBU to think the Sainsburys offer for loyal shoppers in the key run up to Christmas period is poor?

I was thinking this today. I've done online with Sainsburys for ages but have been lured Tescos with their £12 a month for as many deliveries as you like. I had a £5 off voucher off a £40 shop today and thought that I've never had anything like that from Sainsburys.

Also I used to get vouchers for money off with my Sainsburys shop but they couldn't be used online.

I open a new email account every week, open a Sainsbury's account as a new customer and get £15 off.

Then close the email account.

Is pretty naughty but I'm skint and food is expensive..!

I have suggested to them several times that the money off vouchers you get from the till would be better offered as nectar points rather than lose them!

We've had to change to Tescos because of DH redundancy and the savings scheme is so so much more useful. I hate tesco (we get meat from the butcher) but we're on a tight budget.

That is a rubbish offer compared to Morrisons! But we shop there anyway so we are collecting the vouchers.

They don't do loyalty points tho, only on petrol, so it might even out over the year? I don't know what nectar and tesco points are worth. They don't do online yet either.

Sainsburys are no good at rewarding loyalty, no, but they are good at being nice to deal with, helpful, and they make the squash I like. I have had nothing but bad experiences with tesco and ocado, and other shops don't deliver here, so I'm sticking with sains for now!

bouncychair Asda are doing it for £8 a month to under cut Tesco. Yep Asda, Aldi and Lidl don't run these sort of things presumably as they let the prices speak for themselves. But was pretty peed off when I spoke to the customer services lady who yes was, Kveta very nice, but nonetheless I'd rather have cold hard cash off my shopping! Our usual slot only costs £2.99 so in essence we get £3 'loyalty'. Am also narked at not being able to use money off vouchers online only instore bouncychair but I do a top up mid week for fresh stuff so tend to use them then. Buying random stuff like a 1kg tub of Flora with a money off coupon. Just think their deal is a bit poor TBH. Yeah ghr Nectar points are good but now Amazon have jumped ship there's not many places we want to spend our money. We used to save all year and spend the points on our Christmas present to each other. Had a laptop, TV and iPad the last 3 years. Couldn't have afforded it without the points (also had a Nectar credit card paid off in full each month) but just after getting the iPad Amazon left.

Coconutty, it is actually a £70 voucher off your Christmas shop if you spent £130 for 4 weeks. I bought a few things early for Christmas (bottle of vodka) to make sure I was over £130 even if something didn't Come like my chicken today!

I get lots of money off vouchers from Sainsburys?! We shop there every week, and every two months get money off vouchers through the post, either three £4 off a £20 shop ones or three £6 of a £30 shop ones (ie. a 20% discount), we also usually get three '6p a litre off fuel' vouchers (usually equivalent to a 10% total shopping eqivalent discount).

I do an online shop with Sainsbury's every week and rarely get anything back for my loyalty. I don't necessarily think I'm entitled (they are a business after all) but when you see that Tesco offering vouchers and money-off all the time, it makes you wonder why Sainsbury's don't offer more. Occasionally I receive a £6 off when you spend £60 voucher, which helps towards the £3.99 delivery cost. I even emailed them a while ago asking why they didn't offer the "difference" vouchers that they do in-store, despite Tesco, Asda and Ocado all doing this for online customers. They emailed back that they didn't yet have the technology on their current system to do this! They need to catch up.

I have a voucher for £7.50 off a £75 shop with Tesco and I'm tempted to use it this week because Sainsbury's didn't give me a £6 off voucher last week (it was spend £80 and get 300 Nectar points instead). I'm also sure their Nectar points aren't worth as much as Tesco Clubcard points.

every few months we get 8 £6 off a £40 shop vouchers. I think its great! we shop in store rather than online, maybe that it why? also our weekly shop is always around £40.

Ah I think it's the instore vs online division. Bastards. Discriminating against those of us too lazy/busy/intolerant/blah to shop instore. Will still complain! I know they're a business but we have a Tesco Clubcard Credit card as it's 0% interest for 18 months (what with DH doing his PCGE) so if we deserted for Tesco we'd rake in the points. Been loyal as we like the own label stuff but really Asda, Morrisons, Tesco, Lidl and Aldi are all pretty much equidistant from my house so they should be nervous of losing shoppers. IMHO.

Audit As long as you order the right value you get the voucher even if your actual shop comes to less due to missing items. I did it ages ago when very skint, when they had £5 off next £40 shop wys £40. I ordered something like £40.03 but only got £38 worth delivered. I still got the voucher. I suppose it's the best thing for them to do as if I was in store I would have got something else. I use Aldi now anyway, no vouchers but much cheaper.

i'm not a regular sainsburys shopper (tesco is nearer to me) but i do shop there now and again either getting a few bits of shopping of just petrol. Anyway most times i go i get a voucher £4 off a £40 shop, £6 off a £60 shop, a few times i've even had £8 off a £40 shop.

The best way to get money off vouchers from sainsburys is not to shop there!!! Loyalty gets nothing

The Sainsbury's in our town opened in the summer; before that our town was known as 'Tesco Town' (even hit the news!), but I agree about the Sainsbury's offers which are completely lousy and the Nectar bonus points which I get on my 'phone app are just useless - I don't think I have ever taken advantage of them because they just aren't things I buy and the 'x bonus nectar points on a £100 shop' is no good when I try very hard not to spend £100 a week there (I too use a butcher).

I was only thinking about this earlier and I am getting to the stage where, even though I really don't like Tesco, Sainsbury's are doing themselves no favours with the lack of offers. The Tesco ones are at least based on what I buy and can generally be used.

Marks and Spencer have good offers at the moment. I regularly get a voucher when i spend less than £10. the voucher saves me £3 when i spend £15 on food and wine. I used one yesterday and got another one!

In my town we have 2 big and 1 local Sainsburys with another local opening soon. 2 big Tescos and an Express. An Aldi, a Lidl, an Asda, a Waitrose, a Morrisons, 2 M&S food (largish), at least 3 co-ops, at least 1 Spar and an Iceland. I kid you not. We are well over supplied with supermarkets. Since I moved her 9 years ago we've got the local Sainsburys, Tesco Express, Aldi, Lidl, Waitrose, Morrisons, Spar and 1 Co-op. With so much competition why do I bother with Sainsburys when they can't reward my loyalty? Writing that down makes me feel even more of a mug.
