AIBU?

To think that if I pay for Amazon Prime, which says I will get next day delivery

that this might actually happen?

I have been let down time and time again. I've waited in all day, and the courier (usually Citysprint) claims to have attempted delivery at 7 pm, when I am in, but no card left, and certainly no ring at the door. Stuff that has arrived has turned up at 10 pm.

I have asked Amazon for a refund of the money I've paid, but all they have offered is another month of this shit service. The standard free delivery was better - at least if they couldn't deliver, I could pick it up from the Post Office the next day, not wait around for their delivery clowns to fail yet again to deliver.

YANBU. I've only ever used it when they have offered me a free trial but even then it doesn't always arrive next day. On this basis, I would not pay £49 for a service that does not always deliver. I think. I'd be keeping a record of the amount of times it did not live up to its advertised service and then be pushing for a partial refund.

We must be lucky.

DH took the trial out and we ordered a few things, came next day. Couldn't fault it.

I had trouble with them too.
Parcel.didn't turn up. According to the couriers they used, they don't deliver to our town and ours was one of a load of parcels that amazon sent to them in error.

I had ordered in plenty of time but by the time I could get amazon to agree to send a replacement one of the items (for ds's birthday) had gone out of stock; luckily I was able to get it somewhere but at a higher price.
All Amazon did was give me a free month of prime, which I never did use...

I'm doing the free trial thing at the minute, and have to say in my experience it's brilliant.
Next day delivery. Order on the evening, and it's here the next morning.
I wouldn't be happy if I was paying and getting it not turning up though, so if I was you I'd be complaining to them.

Been a member for years, it's awesome... but does mean I spend too much with evil Amazon....

So why doesn't mine work? We're in central London, FFS, not in the arse end of nowhere.

I live in the arse end of nowhere and my items always get delivered on time. Except for once, but they refunded ALL my money. It arrived the next day.

I've tried the free trial, we order lots of things from Amazon.

Almost everything we ordered using Prime was late. Totally put me off actually paying for the damned thing.

We had a rash if bad deliveries. Parcels were days late or would be thrown on the doorstep at 10pm. Complained repeatedly to Amazon. Now they don't use that courier for me anymore it would seem (yodel) and most things arrive by lovely, lovely DPD.

Complain. Lots.

We use it - in two years I think we've had only 3 issues, and that's on a couple of hundred deliveries (I do a lot of shopping on there!)

However if given a choice on checkout I select Royal Mail rather than a courier, to reduce the likelihood of problems.

was thinking of trying it. does it appear on your credit card and do you have to remember to cancel it.

worried I will get caught out but if I use it tonight could I cancel it next week and not get stung?

I took out the free trial for last December for all my Christmas shopping.

I have to say it was fantastic but almost all our deliveries were by DPD.
They send you an email to say when they will arrive giving a one hour window and without fail they arrived within that time, great service.
You could even track where the delivery man had got to on an interactive map! (sad!)

The only item delayed came by Royal Mail and it took 2 days.

I didn't renew as I don't usually order that much stuff to make it worthwhile.

I have use it for over a year now, and have been very impressed. Usually get 10-20 deliveries a month with few problems, and have always found them to be agreeable if I have had to get in touch.
A box of nappies failed to be delivered by Royal Mail, received a replacement box the next day, no problem. I ordered a shaving set for DH, one of the products had leaked, received a replacement the next day and got to keep the original as it was a health and beauty item.
We are fairly rural, maybe it is down to city delivery drivers having a bigger workload than the rural places?

I love Prime and always get it next day unless they send by Royal Mail. Wish they would stop using them for Prime

I get much better service without it. I raised this with Amazon before I decided to cancel and they just acknowledged that in my area, those were the breaks.

Just to let you know that if you forget to cancel the free trial and get charged, you can still cancel after but will only get a pro rata refund based on number of months left. I got the trial dates muddled and accidentally ordered something after the free trial had ended. Because I had used the service that one time after the free trial, I still got charged for that month but the remaining 11 months were refunded (something like £44/£45).

I used to use it a lot, however a couple of years ago I started to get a lot of stuff several days late, and a present that was needed ASAP was late and then went missing! I tried to get a refund for the Prime payment, they refused but 'let me' cancel from that point on.

I complained about the services and said that their agreement for 'next day' delivery was bollocks not accurate. They responded by saying 'next day delivery meant next day following despatch from warehouse'

So, not the day following my order then Angry

YANBU. Just had an issue with Amazon where delivery company admitted they had delivered the parcel "to our recycling bin". Unfortunately they delivered on bin day.

To be fair to Amazon they did sort it out quickly and resend the item immediately.

Courier in this case was Hermes although was Prime.

I started using Prime in October and ordered A LOT of stuff for Christmas, and not one thing was late. 1 item did get "lost in the post" and then was unavailable at that price to send it out again so I couldn't buy it at all, and they refunded me and gave me an extra month Prime free. Definitely worth the £49 for me, also because I always leave things until the last minute so I can now guarantee they still get here on time. :)

I only used it when they offered a month's free trial and adjust the settings straightaway so they can't renew.
It was a waste of time. Half the time the stuff came 2 or 3 days later.

I have had it for a few years now. It saves me quite a lot of money - I love out in the sticks. We have had very few problems, mainly down to the stupidity of the original couriers.

I don't think it would cross my mind to cancel it now!

Now that they've stopped using Yodel and are back to Royal Mail (in our area) I'm much happier with them. As someone said upthread, if they can't deliver it just goes to my local PO which is dead easy for me to pick up from.
