AIBU about my cat?

This is not a third world issue

Guest (work related) this eve - to prepare report.

Turns up 50 minutes late Hmm.

I ask if ok with cats "no" is the reply.

"Ok" I reply breezily and go to remove said cat.

"No no it's fine really I just hate them" I go to remove cat again who has returned - to reassurances they are not allergic and to leave cat in the room it's fine, but swears at cat under breath and sneers at it.

Throughout the evening of work they make kind of nasty faces at my cat making their hatred clear. I remove cat several times.

AIBU to think this is a bit rude? I am not keen on dogs (am scared) but if visiting a house where one lives I would do my best to not make my hatred of a family member quite so obvious.

Very very rude. I'm not a cat lover myself but if I go to someone's house and they have a cat, well, it's the cat's home, not mine, I wouldn't dream of being all horrible about it.

My MIL is terrified of cats, so obviously ours has always made a beeline for her ! Well, used to when it ( cat not MIL ) was alive.
One of my BIL's hates cats and would give dirty looks and shove her off his lap if she attempted to sit there.
Love the way they give dirty looks and mutter darkly, not realising what a nob they look !!!

All cats consider it their mission in life to convert cat haters. Who could not fall for their tremendous beauty and winning personalityWink.

my old cat was not that friendly but liked to make cat haters feel at home with a little massage, she liked to connect with them too by staring in their eyes

my cat i have now is not so bright he is the most lovely cat in the world. i loves him :)

One of my parents' cats peed in a visitors handbag - the visitor had said how much she hated cats so I think he was trying to prove a point! Grin

The cat views said people as a massive challenge. Convert or be beaten into submission.

Your cat should have coughed up a furball into the bag.

How do they instantly identify the cat hater? They all do it.

ExitPursuedByABogieMan · 30/10/2013 23:04

Cos they are a superior intelligence.

Obviously.

Your colleague is extremely rude. I do hope your cat pissed in their briefcase, or at least left plenty of hair over their clothes.

Totally think this person was a weirdo.

But, I don't get why you asked if they would prefer the cat to be in a different room, you didn't then close the door?

I'm super allergic and it's like the wee fuckers are suddenly assassins the way they know when to pounce and wrap themselves to death while your throat closes.

The cat owners who insist on your visiting and then shoo the cat out then 2 mins later leave a door open and the bloody thing is back again.

Then when they discover the cat being all like " ooooohhh silly bumpkins what are you doing here" .

Iv just stopped visiting, even for the 15 mins I could manage before.

Cats know they are in charge in their houses.

My late departed mog used to make a beeline for my grandad, who hates cats.

He once came round and Oscar decided to put his claws on grandad's knee and stretch. Which wouldn't have been quite as bad if grandad hadn't been wearing slacks... Grin

Your colleague is ignorant. I'd have told them to leave. I hope at the very least your cat pissed in her handbag.

Cats gravitate to cat haters because cat haters tend to sit far away from the cat and not look at it. Cats think this is very polite, and prefer that kind of behaviour rather than cat lovers who try to befriend it by approaching and talking to the cat!

Plus, cats are assholes. Fact.

I has two kitties at home which I love very much but they can be assholes

Okay True story. we omnce had someone invite themselves to stay at our house for a bank holiday weekend because someone they knew was getting married. Said person hated cats. And made it clear. Loudly. Often.

Finally, I said 'you do know that this is the cat's actual home and you are just staying here for a weekend don't you?'.

Fucked me right off.

I have lots of stories about arsehole guests though.

Your visitor/colleague was very rude. I would have just left the cat in the room after the second or third time it returned.

I hope your cat drooled loads and moulted masses of hair into said bag.

My cats detect cat haters. My mum hates having animals climb all over her, but when she comes to visit, our cats make a beeline for her. When she pushes them off or puts them down, they'll sit about a metre away from her and just glare in her direction until she leaveds, hahah.
