AIBU?

Distressing photo - WARNING GRAPHIC CONTENT

wispywoo1 · 28/10/2013 19:25

My auntie shared a really disturbing photo of a dead baby (I didn't really read the story along side it, something to do with it being found in a park). I reported the photo and Facebook said it doesn't violate the community rules. Even if the photo is a fake AIBU to think Facebook are out of order? I want to report them for failing to listen to my report!!

You're talking about a company that won't remove videos of people being shot/beheaded so I'm not surprised at their reaction to a photo.

facebook won't remove pictures of dead babies or beheadings, but objects to images of breast feeding. Go figure.

You need to talk to your aunt about this.

Report
Mouldypineapple · 28/10/2013 19:45

Facebook rules are odd. They are very anti pictures of breastfeeding but allow all sorts of horrid other things. Makes you wonder who makes the rules.

I just don't quite know why an adult would think posting a picture like that would be in any way acceptable ...

Report
usualsuspect · 28/10/2013 19:46

I'd block your aunt tbh.

I don't know why anyone would start a thread like this on a parenting website, unless it was their intention to upset a lot of people.

Report
ScarerAndFuckItsAGhost · 28/10/2013 19:51

Chipping if that was the intention, it's worked. Even the thread title is brutal.

Report
sheldor · 28/10/2013 19:55

I'd block your aunt. These people are helping in the distribution of unathorized photos of peoples precious babies.Theres no exuse to spread the pictures around

AngelsLieToKeepControl · 28/10/2013 19:57

Change the thread title, fucking insensitive to the extreme.

I can't believe that you have the nerve to complain about your distress and then come on here and do the same thing to others Angry

ICameOnTheJitney · 28/10/2013 19:59

Yes report the title OP. I guess you've not been here long but that's not on.

Ive seen a few dead baby ones.

A dead chinese newborn baby girl in a bin, a dead fetus at 23 weeks gestation. And a pile of dead babies in Syria.

All real issues.

All things I will read about, discuss and support but not ones I want in graphic pictures on my facebook wall which I cannot censor.

I delete every one that shares them.

SuperStrength · 28/10/2013 20:36

...or delete your facebook account. FB can only exist if people like you continue to use it.

just nasty all round.

Horrifying, another reason to back up why I deleted my facebook a few years ago

Google "Memento Mori" The Victorians took many pictures of the dead even going so far as having them posed on frames.......Photographs were very very expensive and only done by the poor as a necessity to remember a loved one .........Times change attitudes change , to the 21 century eye they are almost to much to take , not then however.

I don't find dead babie photos offence as such but ones on facebook are nearly always stolen photos of parents babies. These parents have to see these distressing photos passed around with fake stories attatched.Bloody awful. Why would you want to share them anyway,no exuse. The only people who should get to decide if they want to post thier babies picture is the parent themselves not randoms who really don't have a clue

OHforDUCKScake · 29/10/2013 07:10

Thats totally different Julia.

You should moderate the kind of content on your Facebook stream yourself, rather than relying in Facebook. In other words, hide or blok auntie, and tell her why.

MoominsYonisAreScary · 29/10/2013 07:18

Not another one of these, it depends. Was it one of those pics of dead babies in a bin or a pic someone has posted of their child.

Babies in bins not acceptable, pics of someones child totally fine

Report
MoominsYonisAreScary · 29/10/2013 07:20

Oh right just noticed it was found in a park (supposedly) not acceptable then especially as like sheldor says they are sometimes stolen off bereavement websites

Why did you feel the need to start another thread on this? Let it go.

Report
CuttedUpPear · 29/10/2013 07:23

You could also try changing your FB friends. I've got 1300 friends on FB and none of them has ever posted anything remotely like this.

Report
Morrigu · 29/10/2013 07:37

I saw this one yesterday. It's along the lines of post RIP if you have a heart, ignore if you're heartless. I know the person who posted on its means well but as a result it shows up on my newsfeed. I've changed my settings now so I only get important posts from her showing up and not all the other stuff.
