"Oh I love a real book". "I can see how much ice got left". Oh fgs ebooks are way better one handed reading. Easy storage. Easy to buy and HUGE FONT option for when you've forgotten your glasses or are drunk

Why do people go into mini orgasm about paper ?

Is it "knobby" ?

(Disclaimer yes none of business. Don't plan on going out all day. Etc etc)

I've never had any-sized orgasm over paper Hmm

I like my kindle, I like books

I find books so primitive now.
"Oh! You can't make the font big!" And you knew me

i love reading and havent got into kindle mainly because i cant afford to buy one but i dont get all snobby about prefering a real paper book thats just my preference, and love looking round the brilliant second hand book shop we have where i live, dont think looking at a website for a new download would feel the same as discovering an old victorian or 1920s interesting book to read

Ah well, I love the smell of paper.

But also love that I can take 1book/day on holiday without breaking my back.

It also bugs me that you cannot 'lend' books on eReaders to others tbh.

I don't like people who're knobby about Kindles.

I like reading books in the bath and would break a kindle with the water. For that reason I like paper books.

LordPalmerston · 27/10/2013 12:34

Yes. I get the lending thing. Def.
I wish amazon would do a thing where you can give an ebook virtually and the recipient can't open it till the date concerned.

Weirdly though I don't like kids books on kindles I like to see their books. I confuse myself sometimes.

And it is a pain in the arse making notes on kindle I'd you are studying.

I thought that re baths. Then wondered when I last dropped a book on a bath. Answer = never

Agree re studying. Yes. That's true. I buy academic books in paper but would read them at a desk.

I prefer to buy books because they're cheaper and I can resell them on amazon when I've read them.

If a book has no re sale value and is cheaper on kindle then I get the kindle version

I never thought i'd grow to love my kindle but I do. I've now got no books left (bar odd study book) and lots more space. Never thought about the germ aspect though, although they would only be our germs and the packers at amazom Grin

I have both but prefer print media. The graphic design, the choice of font, the design of the book and its printing. So many talented people would be put out of work if books didn't exist. Look at the Little Toller nature writing imprint. How could an EBook ever compete? Or the gorgeous Persephone editions?

And you cannot lend out EBooks. I lend out so many of my books to a few reliable people who return them. You don't even legally own an EBook (nor leave it to somebody in your will).

I find my Kindle hurts the side of my hand where I grasp it after a couple of hours. I also accidentally catch the flip page button and find it more hassle to nip back several pages (or half a chapter) to recap.

I tend to fill my Kindle with the daily deals and free classics. Or I load books that I can read in a couple of hours flat- thrillers/crime novels and won't ever want to read again or store as a book.
