She is definitely not my friend! That wonderful time of the month, I appear to go temporarily deaf or people wisper to piss me off. I develop the sense of smell to rival your best drugs dog and everyone around me becomes irritating. The joys of being a womanAngry . so I have done the only thing I can do....raided the local shop for sweets and munchies. I must have been grouchy today DH handed me his card when I went outGrin .

YANBU!!! At all!

I don't have a blood period, just all the rest of the feelings and pains. I get so clumsy it's a wonder I'm still alive after 18 years of periods.

18 years?? 8 years!

When I was 16, I heard it called 'The Curse' for the first time. How true.
Why do we have monthly fertile periods and why can't we have "Seasons" like all other mammals. Once or twice a year. Grin
When I went on the Pill I was free of the PMT, flooding and cramps.

Strumperton you can blame slip up's like that on her too. I'm bad at typing on the phone, but my fingers disconnect from my brain once a month.

Season sound's much more preferable. We could have special spa's for the purpose, where we all flounce off too. I'm sure it would keep DP's and kids happy too.

I'd love to flounce off to the spa seasonally. Although so many women with PMS in one room? Ouch!

I hate having periods,

They're not nearly so bad as when I was a teen/young woman, when I would faint, be sick and be unable to get out of bed due to the agonising cramps, but after 32 years of the stupid things I long for them to just stop now.

I hate that time of the month.

Painful hips, back ache, stomach aches, heavy bleeding and super sensitive breasts.

I almost LTB for eating the last bar of chocolate.

sunshinesue · 19/10/2013 20:46

I'm almost sorry to say this but sugar can make PMS symptoms worse. I gave up sugar for diet reasons and was completely caught by surprise by my period as I hadn't wanted to murder anyone in the run up. Something to do with blood sugar levels affecting hormones I think.

Maybe you could try giving up chocolate?

HOW VERY DARE YOU SUNSHINE

Wink

To be honest I prefer crisps and bread. I'm a savoury girl

I gave up sugar in January. The difference has been huge. Periods come upon me from nowhere. And no pain.

Totally worth it.

I hate it, you have my sympathy, do anything you like to make you feel better :)

I get nausea and sometimes even throw up, upset stomach, bad pains, dry mouth, and sometimes sore throat, my skin feels extra sensitive and I sometimes feel a bit 'out of it' and usually a bit clumsy and awkward too lol. Really annoyingly need to pee loads too. Must be something to do with the hormones released as it is regular and flow is not particulary heavy.

Not given up sugar but was diagnosed as Coeliac a few months ago and since given up gluten periods have been more or less pain free, lighter and shorter. A revelation

Report
iheartdusty · 19/10/2013 20:58

why can't they just be optional?

if it is really necessary to go through all the blood & hormones stuff, then why can't we just opt in if we wish to be fertile that month?

what a wasteful, unnecessary process it all is.

and my cramps are getting worse with each passing year.

mutter...mutter..

My period seems to now come 25ish days
I have pain during it, a short bit of time where everything is ok, a weekish of incredibly sore breasts, then pmt before getting my period again.
I hate it. It was never like this pre or between each of my pregnancies

Period of death here.am 49 and peri-menopausal I think. Can't believe how heavy it is - have been in bed all afternoon :-(

sunshinesue · 19/10/2013 21:59

Sorry strumpleton, refined carbs might have the same effect.....

in all seriousness, if you suffer that much diet changes may help it might be worth a go (think low gi, slow release energy). If you try it and it makes a big difference great, if it doesn't then you can carry on as before. I honestly can't drink tea with sugar in now, it's amazing how quickly your palate changes.

Nooooooooooo! Wink

Yeah I've studied nutrition and have tried all sorts, I've benefited from more fruit and veg etc but regarding periods NOTHING helps. I'm on tablets for mine but nothing helps. I've once thought I was in labour (despite not being pregnant LOL) because it hurt so bad. I was on my hands and knees on the bed screaming. No need at all, I'm going to blame Mother Nature and physiology shakes fist

Always having these sort of conversations with my daughters.

The pain, pmt, the mess and seemed to spend half the time in the loo as it affected by bladder and bowels, and it happens every month, fgs. Hateful.

Had to have a hysterectomy about 15 years ago, not recommending that as a solution obviously, but oh the relief.

Report
sunshinesue · 19/10/2013 22:32

Sorry strumpleton, that sucks. I've had periods comparable to labour (thankfully not many) and it's really rubbish. Leave us BE mother nature!

If I had to choose between DS2's labour or period of Christmas 2006, I'd go for the labour. That was only 10 hours of pain (back to back baby). Wish you could get G&A for period relief!

Report
pigsDOfly · 19/10/2013 22:49

Don't worry about tmi strumpetron. Personally, I always used to save my tightest, whitest jeans for those days when my period was at its heaviest and my bowels at their loosest. Of course I was able to do this as my sanitary towels had wings.
