AIBU?

to think there's a lot of patronizing snobbery here with regards the netmums site.

it's as posters on mumsnet are somehow superior to anyone who posts on netmums...

I mean, whats that all about?

I don't like NetMums because the tickers and general loudness doesn't agree with me.

YANBU to think so.

Yes.

I would say mainly good humoured, slightly tongue in cheek ... ?

But then again there have been some Mumsnetters who have been treated appallingly over there. So I expect they post them in an angry or frustrated manner (rather than patronisingly).

Superior, I mean.

Yes.

YANBU. Though you have just incited more of it. People find it hilarious for some reason. Though suggest that anyone giving their kids Red Bull is wrong and people will be calling you a snob fast enough.

I joined it. I read it quickly. Never felt a need to return. I don't hate it. Just didn't get it.
This site is like totes amaze balls by comparison! :)

I agree! Whenever I read something snide about netmums I think 'oh jump on the bandwagon there'. I've never been to that site, I've no idea what they're like and I wouldn't want to judge a bunch of total strangers.

Netmums, Mumsnet, Babycentre...
What's the big deal?

Yes, the social demographics of each site is a bit different, but each site has pros and cons.

I used to quite like the WYOO board of Babycentre (What's Your Opinion On...?) as it enabled people to gather opinions without descending into some of the hostile behaviour that can sometimes be seen on AIBU.

I don't hold with snobbery towards netmums, I use both sites. Although Netmums is where I started out, I do tend to use here more now.
I love both in equal measures. Grin
sorry, love was a very netmums word to use wasn't it Grin

Yeah, and? Wink

I got banned for telling a BF "counsellor" that I was disgusted when she said that anyone who didnt BF were neglecting their DC and in her opinion were abusers. I didnt even fucking swear! Fuckers.

It's just the site layout for me. Very busy/colourful. No idea what the people are like.

Report
Bogeyface · 08/10/2013 22:17

Yeah, the site layout is hard to view. Their forum set up isnt very user friendly either imo, I like MN because it caters to the lowest common denominator......me!

I'm a member of both, it's alright - it does some bits and pieces way better than here but mostly its just not as good as MN. But yes I remember last year, it may have been longer a poster started a thread on MN in disbelief that Netmums had a politics section Hmm

You know you can hide the tickers/ banners etc?

It's friendly rivalry. Most people on Mumsnet prefer Mumsnet, just as most Netmums users prefer Netmums.

You want a bunfight don't you? It's late. We're tired.
