AIBU blaming cerezette?

I've been on cerezette for about 8 years now , apart from coming off of it to conceive my daughter in 2011 born 2012. I've found it hard to shift my tummy and hip flab as I call it and can only maintain my weight not loose anything. I can only think it's cerezette. I don't eat perfectly but I do walk/cycle 4 miles a day abd eat around 1800 calories a day. But a I wrong I. Thinking this pill is keeping my weight on?

Yanbu I went up to a 12-14 on cerzette and now I'm off I'm back to an 8-10.

I also got pregnant on cerezette so I'm slightly biased to thinking its not the best pill

That sounded slightly harsh it's maybe the best pill as I got pregnant with dd

Yanbu. I spent a year on cerezette and put on over a stone, had 8 months of feeling bloated, sore and pms anger. After gp telling me it wasn't the pill I got very snarly so they changed it. Within 2 weeks my skin cleared, the weight dropped and I wasn't about to stab everyone.
My hair got thicker too.

I got on really well with a low dose oestrogen pill

Yanbu I have been put on this pill since having dd 4 months ago and I can not shift weight. It's horrid. Been to gp and 'any pill' is likely to do it. It really is horrid. Glad it's not just me!!

pinkbear have you tried the injection? Apart from my brief try of a cerezette I've been on the injection for 10 years never had any weight gain problens

I'm on it since 3 weeks pp. at 6 weeks pp I had lost all the baby weight. I had a check up last month (11 months pp) and I have put on a stone! Not overweight yet, but I've gone up 2 dress sizes. I'm going to consciously watch what I eat (to be fair I have been snacking a lot and using breastfeeding as an excuse) and if I have gained again I'm going to switch pills.

Before DD I was on microgynon for years with no trouble, it's just I was told I couldn't breastfeed on it.

Have you had your thyroid checked at all. I have Graves' disease and in the first year after having a child it can cause problems with your thyroid it normally goes over active but it could make you under active perhaps?

Wanna I haven't, gp seems very reluctant to switch anything until dd is 6 months and the bf starts to die off. I have a skin condition too and that's flared up awful too.
I will keep going back and see if I can get something else, anything has to be better than this.

Yanbu! Cerazette made me have the most awful bloating and mood swings. Loestrin 20 far better and I lost lots of weight round my hips. Not great for sex drive though :-( good luck :-)

I can't believe I have wasted my 20's being miserable with my weight thinking it was just because I've had children and that's what happens :( gutted , I am coming off this evil pill immediately , I'm actually fuming it has done this to so many of you !

Cerazette really messed up my hormones, I had to stop taking it. Horrid.

Lonelybunny · 08/10/2013 21:12

I just never figured it could be the cerezette causing it but I can't think of anything else , I mean yes I have days where we may have a take away but that only once a month if that , I also have a very active job so something isn't right. I will get my thyroid checked too.

YANBU - I took Cerazette for only 6 days recently, in the space of which I put on weight, bloated up like a balloon, got a faceful of spots and turned into The Psycho Bitch From Hell. Awful, awful experience Sad.

I call it the fat lass pill and had an argument with my gp about it and refused to take it

Report
NachoAddict · 08/10/2013 21:24

I see your thinking of a copper coil, just letting you know I had one fitted to escape taking the pill and now i have to take cerazette too or I just bleed constantly. The doctors aren't really interested, they just keep saying its A hormonal imbalance so keep taking the pill.

YABU as I lurrrve Cezarette madly - no bleeding at all, no crippling period pains, no cyclical migraines, depression has got better, hurrah!

And I must admit that although I've put on weight, a pill did not force all the pies in my gob Grin Different pills suit different people but over the years I can see I've had pills I thought didn't suit me but I was blaming for other things going on in my life.

Aside from my biassedness, would it be v harsh to say you are 8 years older than when you started it so fat distribution changes, most people underestimate their calorie intake and hip and tummy fat is by far the hardest to lose?

I also love Cerazette.

No bleeding.

No mood swings (not that I had any before).

No libido though (although I don't think I had one of those either before - DH would certainly agree.)

I love the no bleeding it's lovely , but in a way I feel that I am bigger then I should be , and I managed all the way through my third pregnancy only a 8lb gain and she was 9lb , so I ended up lighter I then lost a stone and a half after birth only to be slowly creeping up to a nearly 2 stone gain . I would b happy with constant bleeding then pumping my body full of hormones for any longer to b honest.

I also forgot to say I have 3 breast cysts which my GP say are linked to the cerezette too which I'm not happy about. I just want to b my natural self again.

I went on cerezette back in Jan and then they changed it to Cerelle in March, I am trying so hard to put on weight and hoped it would help but no :( This probably doesn't help you much.

As for no bleeding, I wish, Some months I bleed twice then the next will be late and panic for a week or so then have a teeny bleed..would be happy with a regular period or more non at all !

CocacolaMum · 08/10/2013 21:46

the irony of this is that cerazette is the only pill I can take because I am already overweight.. I haven't had much of a libido since I started though hmmmm
