To feel I am being held to ransom?

Am dog sitting. Dog is adorable but nuts. Am in upstairs bedroom. Every time, and I mean, EVERYTIME, I fart, move, change position or speak, it prompts an unholy torrent of barking from downstairs. Am mumsnetting whilst trying not to make a sound. It's making me very, very tense.

She's just started again! Neighbours must hate us. Feel like am doing the doggie equivalent of Cry It Out. Probably she just wants a cuddle. Must not make rod for own back.

Ha! No owners said, and I quote " she's so good, she's quite Barry in the daytime but we never hear a peep out of her once we've gone to bed"
The thing is I do actually love her but I also quite want to strangle her!

Sorry, she usually sleeps in kitchen where she is now. But she's not used to people being in the room right above her where we are.

There's not enough room in our room for her bed, and she also has a bizarre habit of seeing on the carpet every time she gets upstairs, so she isn't allowed upstairs. She really is wierd but very cute.

I would put her upstairs too as it is just for a short while you are looking after her. She is probably feeling worried being in a strange house at night. I like my dog sleeping upstairs with me tho :)

oh just saw your post about the seeing. I guess she will settle down when you all go to sleep, hopefully.

We are in her house so she hasn't had a change of environment. Have been in bed over an hour and she barked continuously so I have admitted defeat and am now on the sofa with a blanket. Looks like we re co- sleeping tonight! She is delighted by this turn of events and thinks its time to play.
Fucking creature.

Bit invasive but can you dig about in the laundry basket for something that smells of her owners? (assuming they are as disorganised as I am and have washing ) Unless you are at your house and I've misread...it would be odd in that case .
Maybe sufficiently calming to take her out of high alert.

Or practice laying very still, make sure you don't have beans tomorrow and don't, whatever you do, think about needing a pee.

She's missing her owner(s).

Our dog is firmly and irreversably attached to me, I spent a night away from home recently and he wouldn't settle, kept on barking, even though dh was in the house.

I have looked after her before and never had this problem before so god knows what's going on in her head.
Anyway going to try and get some sleep now. I definitely will not be tickling her tummy and giving her kisses for another hour. Definitely not.
