DH is a perfect driver who passed first time with no errors and has never been in any form of accident pass him a medal

I on the other hand have been in a couple. In the two years that I have been driving I have hit a stationary object - causing a rather large dent -, had someone reverse into me - their fault, insurance in my favour -, touched a bumper in a car park - he was a bumper width over the line into my spot and there was absolutely no damage, he thought otherwise and was a complete cunt said he would be in touch, never heard anything. And now I have just gone into the back of someone at a roundabout. He was going - there was room - and he stopped - and I hit him.

I haven't told DH yet. He's going to go berserk. Please reassure me that I'm not the only one out there accident prone

You sound a bit like me I had very very similar accidents to you in my first 2-3 yrs of driving. Did the exact same a a roundabout, its a common mistake youll only make once. Haven't had an accident since and I've been driving 25 yrs now.

I've written off 4 cars, crashed 5 times, burst tyres about 6 times. Too many dents, prangs and bumps to remember. This is all is 7 years. I have never hurt anyone though. I blame extreme exhaustion (working shift work full time and looking after DS)

It's not an excuse, I just don't stress about it.

Other people practically choke on their judgy pants though, the only thing it hurts is my finances!

Haven't had one for about fifteen years now - been driving for just over twenty.

1. Been hit by a lorry that came around a bend on the wrong side of the road

1. Skidded off a wet road, rolled the car and ended up in a field

1. Been hit by a steam train (on an ungated, unlit level crossing)

1. Returned to the car park after shopping to find that a young lad has, ahem, 'parked' on the actual bonnet of my car

That roundabout one is a common trick of insurance scammers mind. That will obviously make you more cross in the long run, but you could take slight comfort that its not all down to you if they did it deliberately. I know a friend who has been targeted twice by those, and man does she (very sensibly) leave a large gap between cars now.
Either way, things happen. I know god awful drivers who never come a cropper, and some pretty good ones who have had several little dings. Worst thing to do is get het up over it. Hope you arnt injured op.

Don't sweat the small stuff, the accidents you have mentioned are all standard gaining experience type accidents that most drivers have one or more of in the first couple of years.
If its any help, it took me 6 years and 3 attempts to pass my test, I've been driving 21 years now (including learning) and in the two years after I passed I nudged the back of someone at traffic lights (I was too close, started moving, they stalled) and someone reversed out of a space into my wing in a car park (partially my fault as I was going a bit faster than I would now with the benefit of experience)
I haven't had an accident since, as I don't count the wanker who tail ended me in a traffic jam on the motorway whilst on his phone, not the pillock who ran into the back of me at traffic lights on his way home from the pub.
My husband on the other hand passed first time after 3 months of lessons and was endlessly smug, however has never managed to accrue more than 1 year no claims because he doesn't learn from his mistakes.

My sil has written off her car 3 times if that helps. These things happen. So long as you are as safe and careful a driver that you can be then don't worry. It's the dicks who speed and undertake and tailgate who fuck me off.

I knocked over my driving instructor ... it was on a private land driving school (kids under 17 could learn there too) and he got out of the car and went back, to help me do reverse manoeuvres. I reversed all right, into him. He was bumped about a bit but OK. I was asked to leave never went back there again.

in 10 years of driving I have:

• touched (I mean touched - no marks whatsoever) bumpers twice when parking
  
• clipped one of those sidey barrier things you get on the spiral ramps in a multistorey car park. scraped my bumper.
  
  

• reversed into a gatepost x 2. scraped my bumper on one of these occasions, cracked a rear light on the other.

TBH I consider myself an ok driver on the open road but am clearly shite at manouvres.

I drove into the back of DH's car - low speed, no one hurt but I wasn't very popular

Then I went into someone at a roundabout - as above, clear road (was 11pm at night), car in front pulled out then stopped dead for no apparent reason. Again, very low speed, just a couple of scuffed bumpers and a broken number plate (mine) from the car in front's towbar

I'm convinced the roundabout one was a scam though (it was dark and couldn't really see any damage properly so we exchanged details) as a few weeks later my insurance company received personal injury claims for the driver and 3 passengers - there were no passengers and I was only going about 5 mph. It should have been obvious from the lack of damage to the cars that it was a con, but my insurance paid out as there were no witnesses - still fuming about that

You've not had a good run have you chuck. All those dings in two years. I've certainly never had any of those gaining experience type accidents ( more luck than anything else though :) ). The thing is you learn from each and every one so I wouldn't worry about it.

Sounds like you actually need to start concentrating on what you are doing when driving/manoeuvring.

My dh drove into someone at a roundabout recently. there was lots of traffic, stop, start, stop, start etc. He's a good driver normally so it's not uncommon.
I'm a good driver too and dented a brand new car when I tried to park next to a skip!
I also drove into a car that pulled out from a parked position (so not my fault) and a bus took my mirror off.

If you are actually a bit worried about it you could always have some refresher/advanced driving lessons to make sure you haven't got into any bad habits. It might just have been bad luck and someone telling you you are a decent driver might help your confidence.

I've crashed into two parked cars on separate occasions, one of them a police car, the shopping trollies and the side of my house. All at about 5 miles an hour, I am super focused when I drive (have to be because I've limited attention span) but when I'm slowing down to park I tend to notice something and drive in the direction of whatever catches my eye.

I refuse to drive outside town for moral reasons (I don't want to kill anyone).

Redbreast those all sound fairly common things, little knocks and bumps that most people have, especially when they are new drivers. I could tell you mine, but they are about the same as yours, and I have been driving a lot longer. DH has had lots as well.

I remember being advised not to buy a naice car after passing my test (like I could afford one!) because all new drivers scratch/scrape their cars in the first couple of years.

My ex-H was, although a twat, a v good driver. He did the into-the-back-of-someone-at-a-roundabout more than once IIRC. It comes about because you are looking ahead and reading the road - which is good! - but you forget that sometimes other drivers stop for no reason, and it bites you on the arse.

Try not to worry.

You are not hurt, that's the main thing. And you will learn from your experiences.
